It's a beautiful day

It is great to be alive. A beautiful day indeed. Table Mountain this morning looks like god airbrushed it in tones of green and gold* The city was washed clean during the night and is glistening in the early dawn Our balcony strawberry patch is sprouting it's first buds, just crying out for some cream in a few weeks A rainbow literally led me to work, hovering over the mountain-pass near my office, centre ahead in the road And while Bafana Bafana are out of the World Cup we are very proud of them. From Mark Shuttleworth bringing our youth together and now Bafana bringing us cynical, hateful adults together, we are doing well A beautiful day indeed and I would not want to live anywhere else in the world So how did your day start in your city? * Green and gold are the Springbok colours, so that has to be a good thing! regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and to be loved in return - Moulin Rouge Tim Smith wrote: Over here in the third world of humor (a.k.a. Isn't it great how sometimes you step outside and think 'being alive rocks'. This morning around 1am a storm front came through, heralded by a single massive thunderclap then hours of rain and sleet. It was great being inside with the heater on full and the window open a little to hear the howling wind and rain outside, then even better crawling into bed to go to sleep to the sound of the storm outside. Today was a day of surreal light as dirty yellow snowclouds streamed overhead, puncuated by alternating periods of sun and rain. About an hour ago (4pm) the clouds retreated to reveal the hills around Canberra covered in fresh snow. Another week of this and it's snowboard time! cheers, Chris Maunder

Oh shut up. I'll get back to you when I've had my coffee. :P No really, its a great day, nice and chilly outside just how I like it. Haven't had a chance to check out Table Mountain just yet, but on a clear day I have wonderful view of it.

Chris Maunder wrote: Today was a day of surreal light as dirty yellow snowclouds streamed overhead Our flat is parralel to Table Mountain. The mountain behind us and our balcony looking down the long slope to the shores of Table bay with the city sprawled out before. Just to the right of center the peninsula extends to the snow capped Sir Lowries pass mountains. To our right is Devils Peak which extends off Table Mountain and to our left is Signal Hill and Lions Head, also extending off Table Mountain. Cape Town city is in a bowl which we call, originally, the city bowl. This morning there was a flat but expansive cold front sweeping up the peninsula, the sun rising beneath it. As I was making breakfast it was a deep burnt orange with shots of coal black. As the sun rose above the far off mountains and ocean it waned to a, get this, Code Project orange and then a golden yellow. I love watching city lights going off almost as much as watching them twinkle on. A city may be man made but it can be incredibly beautiful and alive in the early morning after a good nights rain. Chris Maunder wrote: the hills around Canberra covered in fresh snow. I have heard some lovely depictions of The Hills of Canberra. A good friend would IM me as she woke up in Canberra describing the colours and light :) As for snow... South Africa gets some, but only in the mountains and then it is not anywhere near skiing or snow boarding worthy. We have to make our own snow slopes (pistes? lol) if we wan't to ski. Otherwise we partake in sand-boarding. It's a beautiful sunny day in the surroundings of Barcelona. The rainy days of last week have cleaned the air and everything is brighter than usual. And well, I'm sorry we sent the Bafana, bafana home so early. I wish them the best of luck in the years to come. It's most admirable what your country has accomplished in the last ten years. Congratulations!!! :)

It was still the early hours of the morning and the city was fast asleep, but beautiful nonetheless. For a kid from a relatively advanced third world country I was pretty amazed. To have scored two goals against them was an even greater privilige. regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and to be loved in return - Moulin Rouge Tim Smith wrote: Over here in the third world of humor (a.k.a. Great to hear that at least somebody is getting some nice weather. In Belgium we are down to our usual June weather which has three main themes: - like this morning: grey, dull and wet. - Tomorrow and this weekend we are in for hot, humid, regular thunderstorms and generally unreliable. - Next week we are supposed to get the third variant which is cold, regular (hefty) showers and lots of wind. It just so happens that June is not a favourable weather month in our corner of the world. Still, apart from the weather things are not all bad in that same corner.

Indeed it is. Although there is no city where I live, and no neighbors to be seen, only forest and lakes and the sounds of song birds. The sun is shining again after a few days of rain and clouds so everything is looking very alive. Paul Watson wrote: I would not want to live anywhere else in the world I know how you feel.
