In politics, leader and fool are synonymous. The sad thing is, we are the bigger fools, voting these people into office. I think we should simply boycott all elections. Marc

I never consider an elected official as my "leader". Think of them as "representatives" or "public servants" and then do the right thing on election day and you'll sleep a little better at night. Nothing really changes. They're generally still scum but at least you get some sleep.

Perhaps by not soliciting in an Idaho airport...?

hahaha, that was funny ;) I believe it's more of the lying, soliciting sex in a airport bathroom (regardless to who) since he's married. Giving our great state one more black mark on it's record =\

My wife and I lived in Idaho Falls when I worked at the NRTS. I loved it there (even got acclimated to the -40F winter), and were it not for prefering to be near my kids and grandkids, we'd be living there now. I think I'll wait until more of the facts come out. If Craig has been doing what he was accused of, I am sure his other "partners" will come out of the woodwork to sink him. Gay activists are a vengeful lot. Otherwise, this may prove to be yet another case of police and prosecutor abuse. This same kind of thing happened several years ago to a man I knew all my life, and since he had nothing to lose, he stood up to the cops and prosecutor, went to trial (in a day before there was this soccer-mom hysteria), and was acquitted. He had propositioned no one, but the cop thought the normal actions of a man at the urinal (with no other witnesses around) was something he could spin into a conviction. Cops need comvictions in order to stay on these relatively safe sex offender details. Keep in mind that they don't get shot at on these types of vice details, so it is a safe way to enhance the career. Drug dealers and gang bangers have a nasty habit of not only shooting back, but sometimes taking the cop's family out as well. I also remember the cases of child sexual abuse back in the 80s that later proved to be false after they found that cops and DAs had threatened kids and coerced them into making accusations for things that never happened. So, given that Craig could be another pervert in RINO clothing, or that the whole case may be made up, I'll wait. The Republicans would be smart to reject any of its office holders that are proven to be perverts and crooks. Such behavior is expected with Democrats, but should not be with Republicans.

Reminds me of what I heard on NPR--the Brits are evacuating a compound and the looters are already circling the place. One looter said "we're just waiting to see what God gives us." And then, I was listening to this piece on the shortage of beds for the mentally ill in New Orleans. It struck me how the hospitals were talking about budget issues in the 10's of millions of dollars, and here we are in a war (creating more mentally ill people) that costs us billions daily. I really cannot find a place where I can see any sense in government, elected officials, politicians, etc. Of course, I haven't lived with total anarchy, I suppose I should just look at Iraq for an example, but still. I can't make sense of it (our policies and priorities). What the hell is going on (other than, oil and money talk)? (I assume this thread is ancient enough that no one will ding me for turning it into an SB thread). Marc

Perhaps I'm approaching that cynical time of life, but politics and democracy just don't seem to work these days, politicians it seems to me, enter it based on the gravy train principal and for the career, rather than to do some actual good.

Sadly that's all that seems to be going on, well that and empire building. Yer know, maybe I've read 1984 or Brave New World too many times, or read too many Sci-Fi Noir novels but it's getting harder to not see parallels in these "interesting times" we're living in X| God help me, I'm even looking at Star Wars as a sub-text for the gradual erosion of every day taken for granted liberties  I think I need a holiday
