Since 11th july all i did is Setting up product for clients and update it all the freaking time, and getting no development at all, all the others are getting the juicy coding jobs and im left to none because they "entrusted" me with updating....which is freaking boring....assuming that i work as a developer and i didnt code anything. If i did anything it was like 3 to 4 lines in like a month or so.Which btw is taking away all the fun in my job. I already talked to them, that im not super happy about the situation, and stil this situation remains. My developing skills are as good as any one elses over here, i did good jobs like everyone else. What should i do? ive been with this company for like 2 years now from the very start. Next week i have an interview, if the situation doesnt change im changing company

Documentation is boring, but would you skip that for the reason? If you truly want to be multifunctional, you'd have to put up with all sorts of job realted to development. And this includes maintenance, installations, migrations and upgrades. Besides, you've only been working on that for 37 working days now, right? I wouldn't throw in the towel for this reason alone. But if there are other factors and if you'd already decided that you're looking for a change, maybe you can go ahead. But this reason alone, is not good enough, for me atleast. Cheers.

Well, talking about dirty... there still is the fact that buzzycode (and dotnetspider?) are plagiarizing CP articles. And your name comes up on dotnetspider.... If someone just copied your name and put it up there, you should be sueing them right away.

Im not saying that i dont want to do anything with that stuff, because its part of the job but atleast balance the stuff. I love my job or used to now, because i used to program stuff which is the thing i liked the most....and now im deprived from it... and they talk to me like "You need to finish this if you want to develop" Developing is my job its not a kids threat that i need to behave to have some!! what u think? Plus its being going like this beyond the 11th of july. Because on this date ive sent them an email about it. so i think its like a solid 2 months and something thinking about it

Yup, every programmer who's not self-employed goes through this at some point. I'm not commenting on whether you should quit or not. It's entirely up to you. But you'd have to get a perspective on where you're headed and why. What reason will you state for your resignation in your new company? What would you do if your new job also veers off like this? What would you think if you landed a plum project with lots of development after your current work is done? Managers are not unjustified when saying that an employee has to finish what he's doing first before moving on to the next piece of work. Switching jobs can have very deep consequences either now, months later, or even years later. Don't let a piece of harsh decision haunt you in your later years. If you really feel that your current company is good, and there's scope for your growth, stick on. Wish you good luck.

In India, it does not work. You can purchase cops and law if you have a 'fatty' wallet. Unfortunately, my wallet currently, as of now has only INR 10 towards return journey to home tonight. How do you expect me to afford legal litigation expenses against those 'powerful' goondas? "

True. Whilst responding to these threads, I have also sent an email to CyberCrime Cell, Chennai regarding the BuzzyCode website which is violating intellectual property infringments they are indulging in. Let me keep this thread updated over the responses I recieve from them.
