VB.NET Irc Client

Hello all, I was wondering if anybody could provide me with an example on how to iniatiate a IRC Session, and keep it alive, in VB.Net. I understand parsing messages, but I cannot think of any ways to respond to the Ping Pong system. Many thanks, Fahad Sadah
