I have used VNC from my palm to my PC (Treo smart phones run palm OS, though mine is not a treo, my spouse's is). It works, but I wouldn't recommend it unless absolutely necessary. I used VNC.

I've just spoken to the admin guy and VNC is a no no. I've now found out that Windows Mobile 5.0 has Remote Desktop but Windows Mobile 6.0 doesn't. Which means a slightly older (but cheaper!) phone.

I wonder who was the tool that decided the enterprise users no longer need this feature?

not surprisingly.... I wouldn't use it for work use either. What about SSH tunnelling with VNC on the inside of the tunnel rather than open to the outside world? How about using a mini laptop rather than a smartphone?

LOL! Most Enterprise Windows Admins I've worked with think a SSL tunnel is a underwater bridge.

It ain't Microsofts fault (apparently http://www.theunwired.net/?itemid=4029[^]).....Remote Desktop is now an optional component in Mobile 6.0 and it is up to the device manufacturers whether they include it or not. Most, if not all, have ditched it to free up ROM space. For what I don't know.

I'm looking at the mini laptop route also, but was hoping to package a phone, PDA, remote access all into one device. Looks like some serious googling then.....

Any experiences? I need to be able to logon to a clients server at the drop of the proverbial hat. This coincides with the need to get a new phone. I've googled around and there are Remote Desktop downloads, but not MS ones - I 've also read you can only do it with a VNC type client / server set up. Has anybody done anything like this?

Probably ring tones, because you can never have enough abnoxious ring tones. Or so it would seem from just about every phone out there. X| X|
With respect, I must disagree. A quick look at middle management in just about any corporation shows that the dodo not only survived, it's reproducing in record numbers. Christopher Duncan

I use my phone as a modem on my laptop, and that way I can do RD. I don't know of any phone RD's though.
