If you have billions dollar. What software will you build? Maybe OS, Email Server, Database system, anti virus. Which software do you think you have the chance to be #1 in the world?

Like an electron. You can glean what her current position is, or you can figure out where she's going, but you can't figure out both at the same time. Marc

If I had a billion dollar I'll hire developers to write software that will earn me another billion dollar. Each billion dollar earned will be invested to do the same. To understand recursion, you must first understand recursion.

If I had 1 billion dollars, I'd hire a bunch of Americans to write software which does something. Something like detect my mood and play the appropriate music in my mansion.

Then hire a marching band. At least they'd have the skill to play and follow you at the same time.

Personally I am not interested in being #1 in the world. I know that sounds silly, but I enjoy the challenges of R&D. Few people ever get rich on R&D. Chances are, with a billion dollars, I would use it to do SBIR work, which ironically pays you back. ;) Hey, I never said it would be wasted. SBIR work allows one to answer the most challenging questions to certain ... industries and interests. Then you have full rights to market it. I would hire someone to market it, I have no interest in marketting. But I love the challenge. It reminds me of a quote I saw from Einstein, "I love to travel, But hate to arrive." That is me, to some extent. Sure I like to arrive at some destinations, but even caving was less enjoyable once it was done than the adventure of the attempt itself. Each time I have to do "one more" because I can't just do the same thing. So the long answer is I would still be doing most of what i am doing now, just doing it for myself not another company.

is that a form of aerobics? taking them out for a trot? or is this a new type of torture to provide reason to keep going long hours?
