One of our clients, a lady in her 60's, had some pictures taken of in and around her house, mostly a bit of flowers, some stones and a few cherrubs/angels on her lawn, to use as some clipart for her new web site. And that's what i expected to see. The client finally forwarded me an email from the "photographer" yesterday, with a link to a Picasa gallery, but what i found there instead, well.. crosses the line into pedophilia. Flowers were an afterthought. No, not cement lawn ornaments, the real thing.:wtf: From that i could see, it was the "photographer"'s three or four year old grand-daughter. I was just shocked. The filthy house, the drinking, the way the girl's own mother was looking at the girl as the pictures were being taken. Yes, the mother is in the pictures. But it wasn't just thetwo women, there was a guy in his 50's as well, watching and participating. Sleazy people, sick things X|... i never thought the client would have such people take pictures of her house...but chances are she never of this either. This was yesterday and i wasn't able to sleep the whole night...although this morning at around 5:00AM i took a little nap in order to be capable of working through the day. There's no choice but report it. I don't want such things on my conscience...i don't want this crap posted on the web a moment longer. I could take the easy way out and just have Google take down the pictures, but the problem is she'd just learn and continue doing such things in private. I have to take it to the police, but they are slow, and she'll know who called :the nonexistant nervous-breakdown emoticon here::mad: But if i had such a choice i'd rather slip someting in their drink than confront them about it. I'm not such a ghoulish person, but only when their heart stops will i feel that the little girl is safe. I mean what kind of a family do they have to be to do such things to this little girl and then post them in full public view for millions to see. Please help me...you may have dealt with that kind of situation before. Any advice will be helpful. Roswell:((

Number one priority here, is the safety of a child. If you have ANY doubt - report it. Simple as that. I just wasn't clear from what you said, it's possible you were raised in a family where people were always clothed outside of bed, I just wanted to say, not all families are like that. But, any doubt at all, the safety of a child beats any other consideration here.

First - calm down. You need to be sure you're looking at pedophilia before you go calling the police.. that call will ruin people's lives so you need to make sure it's worth it. What I mean is - I've heard stories of film developers who saw pictures of naked kids and called the police, when all it was was parents snapping some memories of their kids playing in the tub. The pictures you're describing sound kinda like that, but obviously you're the one looking at them. If you're sure this is something that should be reported, call the authorities. Who the frick cares if they know you reported them, the point is, if the girl is being abused, the right thing to do is to make sure the girl is safe. If you decide it's not as bad as you thought it was, make clear to the client that you will not post those pictures on the web (I wouldn't). If she argues, tell her to find another web developer.

The pictures of clearly sexual nature taken at "photographer's" own messy, filthy house where uploaded to the same Picasa account as pictures that were taken of the flowers at our client's place Roswell X|

That's probably a good place to start. They probably have a procedure for things like this.

What makes you percieve the images are sexual ? Is it just that the kid is naked ? If so, well, some people just don't wear clothes all the time. As someone else said, this is a big call to make. You need to make it with respect to the child more than anything, but if there's someone you can ask their opinion, I'd consider that a wise first step, before you do something rash.

Participating in what, is probably the key question ? If just nudity, then it's probably not a big deal, I would expect.

The man is fully dressed (shorts, t-shirt, socks), drinking red wine out of a dirty glass, the girl was playing with a turquoise felt tip marker and torn white paper on a dirty floor. She's wearing a white tee-shirt, her lower body is underessed though, with her privates clearly visible in nearly every picture. In one picture, she is sitting on the man's legs, with no underwear, in a position that resembles a person riding a horse or a bicycle. You see, a normal man would protest if that were to take place is private, let alone photographed and placed on a publicly viewed web photo gallery. He isn't even her father. Roswell X|

Yeah. I googled for the Picasa username and found a website that she clearly owns, since there's a picture of her there. There's a name and a phone number as well, but assording to AT&T reverse lookup, the phone number is unlisted, so i couldn't get an address, but the police probably won't have that problem. Roswell

Guy, get on the horn to the police first. The girl comes first, but in order to help her out, the "evidence" must be preserved. I know it's disgusting and will probably keep you up at night, but the first call has to be to the cops so they can look at the evidence before someone else takes the pics down. That call alone should get you some sleep.

Thanks for the kind words. I wish i've never run into this either, but in the sense that the problem should not have existed in the first place, rather than simply being hidden from public sight. What makes me sick as much as what's happened in these pictures, is that other people may have looked at her album and never reported it. That there's a circle of people other than the lady herself, that find it acceptible. I hope the girl will be placed in protective custody away from them all, because things like this tend to run in families and if she were to just be placed with an aunt, who knows if this sort of thing won't happen again:~ As you've said, there's a dark world out there:sigh: A world we would rather not see, but once we come face to face with it, there's no choice but to do something about it, otherwise it will haunt one's conscience for years. Report it. It won't fix the underlying problem, but it might help the girl grow up to a different life. You can report anonymously, or ask the police to handle it anonymously. It's a public album (I assume), so anyone could have reported it.
