A compiler for a made-up (simple) imperative language is always a good idea... specially if written in, say, PROLOG. It may seem an odd choice of programming language but it greatly simplifies the parser part.

i have thought to do some thing in web development but still want to get creativity but not yet.

How about an OS that is better than Vista. Oh wait. Windows 3.1 has come and gone...

I find that simple projects that actually do something useful are the best. I stress simple. Also, try to keep it in line with what interests you the most.

Find an industry you want to work with (you didn't mention any specialties) Find a problem in that industry that sounds interesting Solve it.
