...I've got a pretty stupid question coming up here... It's about my brand new Win 2000 box running on a super-fast Pentium 200 MHz MMX... but that not the problem :) My problem is about file-sharing, and about the fact that I'm pretty new to NT. I've put the Win 2000 box in a network with a Win ME box. I can access the shared drives on the Win ME box from the Win 2K box without problems... but the other way around doesn't work :(( It keeps asking me for a password, even though I allowed everybody (admins, users, guests, etc) full access to the shared drive (
\\oldcomp\c\). And if a try to go to\\oldcomp\, it ask me for a password to a resource called\\oldcomp\IPC$. I tried with admin passwords, but with no luck... what should I do?Cheers,

Check settings for the guest user; the account might be disabled or something. Alternately, you can just add a user account for whatever name you log onto the WinME box with. --------

Just create a Administrator account in your WinME box, and give it the same password as your Administrator account in Win2k. Should work. I'm not sure if it is available in WinMe, but in Win2k you can actually specify, what username/password to use to connect to a share. :) Venet. -------- Black holes are where God divided by zero.(Steven Wright)

Better to add and account with the same name as the winme user name and give that account privileges as needed. To be conscious that you are ignorant of the facts is a great step towards Knowledge.
