*grin* yep, I'm sure you do. Just like I do. You're right tho, my time at CP has moved from me being desperate for help, to me trawling the forums, looking for chances to offer help. One sign I see that I'm becoming a better developer is, when I do have to ask a question, I almost never get an answer....

Christian Graus - Microsoft MVP - C++ "I am working on a project that will convert a FORTRAN code to corresponding C++ code.I am not aware of FORTRAN syntax" ( spotted in the C++/CLI forum )

Interesting way of measuring, but it does make sense.

I'm going to bed soon, so this is the last pointless post... Sometime back somebody posted Funny Video Of The Day - John Cleese (Monty Python) doing his Ministry of funny walks sketch. Nothing new there, but the music that had been put to was superb. A few replays to get the lyrics and found out it was First Day Of My Life by Bright Eyes (Conor Oberst). I had never heard of him before that. Now I've seen him in concert three times, have all his albums, and made the wife and kids sick of him with constant replays. Thank you Code Project - I love you guys... Oh, the other thing it has done for me is made me aware of NIIT....

Spend couple of hours late at night scratching head... Search for article on CP. Plug in provided dll. Everything works. I get to sleep. Rinse and repeat... (also reading the posts in some of the forums makes me think that i might, actually, know something after all :^)

I just wish I started with .NET a few years ago instead of Delphi. I haven't known CP before I began working on .NET applications, but it's the second (after Google :P) website I check for a solution when I have a .NET problem. I wish I could help more other people someday. Thanks to everyone for every article they commited to CP and for forum help. Regards, Pawel

I know how that goes. But on occation you'll get silly attempts from people that don't understand the question. But then sometimes I have to ask a stupid question I should know the answer to, which is embarassing enough you almost want to create a new user account to post from. Humility is tough to come be. :)

It's a long list... From countless instances of "so that's how you do that!" and the occasional "holy crap, you can do that?!?":wtf: To interesting conversations and some free web traffic. To a productive way to avoid work. When I'm bored or have a few minutes of free time, the first thing that usually comes to mind is to check the C# forum to see if there's something I can answer. And to be honest, CP's Insider is the only newsletter I ever read. I always find something of interest in that. And when I need help, I don't even bother with google anymore, CP's usually in the top 5 results anyway. But few things are as fun as posting an article and watching the response. It's like releasing software, BUT WITH FEEDBACK!!! :omg:

The articles I have posted on CP have gotten me jobs... i cant think of anything better. When I was first starting out I posted a bunch of stuff on CP and then had work I could show. CP definitly helped me get my first shot at being a developer. Thanks CP...

Huh... I don't know that I can completely agree with that. That same phenomenon could be explained with going off into the weeds esoterically in order to solve a problem in a way noone else would even consider due to its complexity. Lack of help != uber 1337ness. ;) [edit] What CP has done for me is give me something to stave off boredom during lunch :-D

Hey Adam, Why did you remove your article about arrays and loops? I didn't try to bash you or your article, i only tried to give some constructive feedback on how to improve the article. Even good articles can be improved... Oh and i say thanks CP for helping me to learn me how to program! Sure you've got books and all, but it's very nice to see many different ideas coded and explained in all the articles here on CP.

that's cool. I thought I would rewrite it and put a little more time into it though. From the moment I posted that article everyone jumped all over it. I need to find a better example of what I'm trying to convey. the technique I'm trying to show is using loops and counters to define the depth of your arrays, and then using the counter to increment the arrays in the loop thus creating code that works dynamically. I have used that trick in a lot of my code, and need to find a better example. Especially if the control I wrote would have been easier to write with a repeater. -- modified at 14:09 Saturday 29th September, 2007

It's kept me in a job on a couple of occassions... "Can you do that Malc?" "Yeah...sure. Couple of hours." Two hours later, Plz Help Urgent posts in teh forums... But that was some years ago and I now know everything (just in case my boss checks in here!)
