Come on, Red, where's your personal responsibility? I hope you're not going to allow the insurance company to pay for it, meaning the policyholders are subsidizing your lack of basic security.
I voluntarily pay the insurance company handsomely to mitigate my risk such that if an event like this occurs, the cost of that risk is distributed accross policy holders. That is a prudent and age-old concept of which I approve of greatly and I challenge you to find a statement where I say otherwise. Anybody who does not have adaquete insurance or who is not otherwise self-insured is, quite frankly, a fool.

No I didn't. I live in an urban area, genius.

Typical of a victim of property crime, you are trying to insult those that took advantage of you by critiquing their choices in stolen items, technique, etc. This is typical victim mentality, trying to find some superiority for yourself in a situation where you have clearly been treated as inferior.
Or rather a typical mentality of somebody who has been so thoroughly lashed to reach for some reason to find me inferior to you. Good luck getting your precious police force to track down the stolen property or make any leads on the case!
Since I am prudently insured, there is no need to and that does not offend my sensibilities in the least. But just for fun, I'm going to request a tape from our gate's security camera to see if I can find a suspicious license plate or two. I'll be sure to pay special attention to ratty cars with anti-Bush bumper stickers.

What a disgustingly personal attack. You are a despicable person.
I am just making fun of Red for getting robbed, nothing despicable about that. It's not like I am attributing a political ideology of someone who endangered the safety of my family for attention on the internet or anything. Cheers!

I've heard about robbers letting pit bulls into houses with dogs to kill the dog before going in to rob the house. So not only is your stuff stolen, you have to clean up the bloody remains of the family dog.

My family dog is a pit bull. We also have a Jack Russell. Both of whom constantly train under the table and through the chairs. They have the advantage of knowing the territory.

How is risk redistribution equivalent to wealth redistribution? Since when did socialists advocate risk redistribution? In your unmitigated zeal to attack him, you only managed to spout off nonsense. The rest of your rant is rather uninteresting and is just a personal attack on Red. Replace the scenario of getting robbed with getting in a car accident (oh yeah, I'm a real idiot for getting hit head on by a drunk driver!) and you'll see how silly you're being.

Yeah, I realized after I sent the reply that I had typed pit bull. I think the article I read specifically mentioned the breed of the dogs, but that really isn't important. I had a pit bull for a pet growing up and they are great dogs. What is more common is people that get "guard" dogs keeping them alone outside and then deprive them of pack contact turning them into an animal that is more likely to bite.
