My wife is wanting to try one of the 'work at home using the internet' deals. I think most of them are nothing but rip-offs but she is at the house all day with the kids and wants something to do other than just 'mom' duties during the day. Can yall suggest any that might be real, that she can check into and maybe try.

I am not perfect but I try to be better than those before me. So those who come after me will be better than I am.Unless she can code, I'd concur with everyone else. Nothing is free, the peopel offering work from home are going to be scams. An ebay shop sounds like a good idea, the ex pat foodstuff thing could really work. She should sell Tim Tams from home, that would be a winner. I've got a few people in the US addicted to those things already.

It was kind of fun, because she would throw "parties" and most of the other women had children, so it served as making money on the side for her and new kids to play with for me...

Best to avoid most, if not all, of the "work from home" schemes (scams). If she really does have the time, however, an eBay shop is definitely the right way to go. The types of things that turn quite a nice profit are: -Items people feel emabarrassed about buying over the counter (ie prophylactics) -Niche items (one very good one is ex-pat food stuffs. I've been to the US lots, and can I ever get a decent cup of PG Tips? Can I balls) -High quality craft items from foreign lands (Russian Dolls & etc.)

Yeah, those things are an awesome idea. Women spend money freely in the presence of other women, and chocolates.

Start a new company...call it "ALL MINE". Hire her as your personal servant and pay her with sex. I'm sorry I had to say it;P

So those who come after me will be better than I am.I just read an article about hiremymom.com which might be something for you to investigate. Entrepreneur.com also has great info on other business options that we often overlook...like franchising or network marketing (which appeared to be a really good option for me personally). I chose to start my own travel biz[^] for me and my wife.

Personally I would avoid any type of selling where you have to basically product spam your friends and make them buy out of guilt. My wife refuses to go to any invitations for tupperware, lingerie, candles, cosmetics - anything. The pressure to buy something so as to not appear rude uses up precious friend equity, so she politely declines. You can only guilt your friends into buying something once, perhaps twice, before they won't be your friends anymore because you used all your 'friend equity' up. You start second guessing any invitation from those friends thinking it's just a trojan horse to get you into buying something from them. Money is easier to make than friends. Leave your friends for socialising and do your business with strangers. If I had a couple of hundred dollars for every time someone has tried to amway me I'd have made much more money than they ever did. For my 2 cents, get your wife into one of the following depending on her skillset, temperament and capital base: - some type of online business, whether it be a mini dot com or ebay - property investing (most of the time will be analysing listings and talking on the phone to agents trying to find a good deal) - some type of financial trading, whether it be commodities or stocks, options or whatever. Buy her some books, send her on a course and start small. - some type of childminding / housework business that she can do at home (maybe washing uniforms for sports clubs, cleaning cars, walking dogs etc) - outsourced bookkeeping / tax work from a local accountant (might only be for a month or two before tax time, but might pay well) Or any combination of the above

I'm glad it's working for you, because it isn't working for them when their first page still has a title of 'New Page 2'1, and it won't work for me if I have to watch a presentation before knowing anything. Why can't you give us a hint what it's about? 1 I accidentally pasted it into my search box instead of my address box.

I am not perfect but I try to be better than those before me. So those who come after me will be better than I am.I am a programmer and I work at home. The rule of thumb is if you can do your job at home, someone somewhere on the planet can do your job at home too. That being said, in the non-programming world, my wife was actively recruited for doing customer service support for one of friends who is a reseller of pet supplies. The business incorporates customer service people (about 5) around the country. They communicate via IM, email, and phone. Customer service calls are routed from an 800# I also worked in broadcasting for a while and we always had a list of "stringers". People who would research news stories from home and would get paid by the peice. The media industry however takes every opportunity to screw thier part time employees, you need to be careful in this industry. When you think about it... isn't this latest trend great if it plays out. Outsourcers over seas now have to compete against workers who work at home (many from the US) and impact thier bottom line. It would be interesting to see the impact this has on the job shop industry. -- modified at 9:12 Tuesday 9th October, 2007

The only surveys aren't scams. You just have to deal with taking some survey for a buck or less. My girlfriend does it when she's really bored i think the most she made off one was 3 bucks. Personally I'd rather play games or something other then take a survey even if you do make a small amount of money for your effort.

I am not perfect but I try to be better than those before me. So those who come after me will be better than I am.What she needs is a real, low overhead business. eBay is getting harder as they raise fees, but finding a niche is possible. Just don't buy a boatload of something wholesale that you aren't sure is going to sell! If she can type and use a few programs, and you don't live somewhere rural, she might consider what my wife has done: create a home secretarial business. An inexpensive Yellow Pages ad that points to her website has built up her business over about three years to where she has more work than she can handle at $35/hr. She also puts out business cards at all the private mailbox places and contacts all her competitors for overflow business (and she's sending them some now). And some of her business is virtual (she has never met the client face-to-face). And of course I am her tech support, plus I do a few of the more difficult tasks involving file conversion and such. It's been good all around.

Tell her to check with the Home Shopping Network. If you have a computer at home, they will equip you with the software to take calls and place orders. I know someone who does this. She picks her own hours, walks over to the computer, presses a button and gets placed in the queue. I think they pay decent too.
