Whilst I congratulate the SA team on their win, I feel it is important to point out that England reached your try line, you did not reach ours! The dubious decision to disallow a perfectly acceptable try cost us the game. I do not blame the Boks for that decision, rather the biased, blind, garlic munching, Anglophobic Third Umpire! It spoiled what would have been a better and closer game. That said the result stands and I have no sour grapes against the South African team. Although the destruction of a very expensive camera by the that big girls blouse Percy Montegomery was worth seeing, a slight push and a massive tumble! (5.9, 5.8, 5.9, 6.0 (from the russian judge)).

However, even if they were awarded that try, you still would have been a point behind us. Though if you really want to talk about disallowed tries - SA had two of those in the world cup final in 1995. So it does happen.

Are you kidding, his foot was touching the line, and that is out.

That should have been atleast a yellow card. And in my opinion Percy Montegomery is the player of the tournament!! Regards,

Congratulations indeed, although I'd only agree with 'better' in the sense that it's better to be lucky than good. England had the upper hand in prety much every area of the game bar the line-out and would certainly have been deserving winners. The fact is there was so little between the sides that it was almost bound to be decided on marginal factors like dodgy decisions or the bounce of a ball.

Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

A friend's house, where he projected the game onto a big wall next to the braai.
