So, I edit a bitmap and click save as. It starts me not in the folder I loaded from, but my pictures folder. There's a drop arrow next to the file path, and so I click it, expecting to see a bunch of recent paths. I get a bunch of URLs, my browse history, I guess. So, I want to save my bitmap to a URL ?

MS have really lost it with Vista. If it wasn't for the .NET framework and gaming I would happily jump on the open source ship.

hahaha its good to see the relative comparisions, But comparing vista with linux X| ... is like comparing between rich and poor , both have problems but the rich looks better than poor does that mean that most of the software's now a days s**ks big time !

Damn, just spent 10 minutes trying to find searches that made your post look silly. No luck. "firefox bugs" returns 47 million while "internet explorer bugs" returns just 9 million. Weird.

I tried to move over to Linux. After spending a couple of days with ubuntu not liking my gfx card and causing my headaches and people suggesting I try gentoo, but I'd have to compile it my self, I went back to my installation of vista and spent the next 2 days operating at 100% efficiency rather than 0% :P I know this is alot to do with my inexperience with Linux but I'm after an OS I can install, click a few updates and then use ... not something where I have to do this, try that, find out the drivers arn't around yet or compile myself. If you enjoy messing around with OS's then it's probably great :D I personally like messing aorund with games and some light development to unwind from work :P

Halfway to OSX is tempting too. Get the best of both worlds there if you don't mind the hardware cost, I have a background using FreeBSD.

I do mind the hardware cost ;) I already have a perfectly functioning PC that I bought a month ago :) And I have strong feelings against giving any of my money to Apple :P The reason you gave in the original post are also the reason I don't think switching would be permanent with me either. I run Visual Studio and lots of games ... whilst most games can be poked into running on other OS's VS defiantly can't. This would mean having to dual boot and I suspect I'd end up just sticking in Windows out of convenience rather than switching back forth. I'd love to give Linux a go and I'm a strong beliver in the need for competition in the OS market ... but for my requirements and wants I guess Windows is the best choice. It helps that I really like Vista too hehe.

EDIT: Ok I should have read the proceeding posts hehe ... this is a reply in general. Results 1 - 10 of about 102,000,000 for linux problems Results 1 - 10 of about 35,900,000 for vista problems your point is? :P Results 1 - 10 of about 1,720,000 for linux praise Results 1 - 10 of about 1,770,000 for vista praise we could think up these all day but in themselves they prove nothing :p It could be there are less problems posted about Vista because it's newer, it could be there are less annoyances with Linux because Linux users have a long history of having to put up with stuff like a lack of drivers or spending ages fiddling to get the right environment. It could be alot of things ... but what we have here is pretty much usless data to base any of these assumptions on :P
