Chris Maunder wrote: CodeProject isn't the most polished piece of work ever to grace the net so things are occasionally going to break - especially considering the size and complexity and the history. Now I have to step in. I (as well as you) ran the largest developer site on the Web for some time. A site that was listed in the top 100 of all Web sites and which purposed over 4 million pages per week. Therefore, I think I'm a pretty good authority when it come to Web sites and I'll say without reservation that CodeProject is one of the absolute best Web sites on the entire Internet when it comes to providing a clean, intuitive, efficient means of interfacing users to the data they are in search of. Put bluntly, there's not a developer site around (including MSDN, DevX or CodeGuru) that comes close to what you've done here. It might have a bug here or there, but mind you, those bugs only stand for the simple reason that the overwhelming percentage of the site is more than up to the task of delivering what the user wants. You're a coder like me, Chris, and you want perfection and you know where all the bodies are buried. However, from a user's perspective, this site has no equal! Congratulations on a job well done! Well said Tom. I second this sentiment. I spent a fair bit of time at CodeGuru before I chanced on CP, and while CodeGuru seems to have diminished, CP has gone from strength to strength. Being a developer, criticism can sometimes sting, but ultimately it can be useful, if weighted correctly. You have to take into account the source of the criticism. You give a lot of weight to consistent, reputable posters like Tom, Christian, Colin, et al. You give very little weight to those sub-bridge-dwellers who are known to post things to upset people. In fact I would go so far as to say to completely ignore from these juvenile minded individuals. You'll get better critiques from the respectable posters. Keep up the good work Chris.

Hard to explain. In a nutshell, Danny Glover goes into the South African embassy and says he wants to move there and the guy says 'but, but... you're black', only he says it 'blick'. would u please all the awful typos? I don't particularly see what's so awful about mispelling bleak. Didn't get the point?, isn't that what's important. Am not writing a composition here.

If there's something wrong (or something I just don't like) about CodeProject or CodeGuru or IE or Trillian or Linux or what have you, you bet I'm going to express my concern/criticism/opinion about it. Anyone who say I have no right to complain is an idiot, and if the authors of Trillian/Linux/whatever product don't care about the users, then I sure as heck won't be using their software. --Mike-- Just released - RightClick-Encrypt - Adds fast & easy file encryption to Explorer My really out-of-date homepage Sonork-100.19012 Acid_Helm
