Seems the death threats were the deadbeat kids up the road. They were asking Hannah on the bus if we got any weird calls on the weekend and acting all mysterious. My wife is keen on threatening the kids with legal action ( which we can't take based on one call ). I would prefer to not be escalating things, because the parents are morons ( we have no-one to go to ), and I can see if we try to start an arms war, my kids will pay the price. What do you guys think ? Obviously, if they call again, or harrass my kids further, that's another matter, but Donna wanted to start the legal threats on the weekend, before the kids had done anything further at all. All that's happened is that someone asked my daughter if we got any weird calls on the weekend.

Document it thoroughly (dates, times, what was said or done). If it repeats any time soon, go after them. Ignore the parents, call the cops. Some police departments have neighborhood mediation groups that are designed to resolve these sorts of issues without causing an escalation.

It is giving them the benefit of the doubt, but another possibility is that they received the same sort of call and were asking around to see if anyone else had. I didn't see your previous post. Do you have caller ID or is it available?

No, not remotely likely. They told Hannah they knew who did it, but were not telling.

*grin* yes. They told me on the phone they didn't have to tell me who they were. I agreed, but what I meant was, I already had their number. The police said they got the fright of their lives when they got the call, they couldn't work out how I got their number. Morons.

Yeah, the main reason I called the cops already was a paper trail if it happens again.

So, I am not sure why you can't have them arrested (other than not knowing who to arrest). At the very least you should be able get a restraining order against the whole family. You have a threatening call and the telephone number of the caller.

The police said if they call again, we can get that sort of stuff. As it stands, they regard it as a one off prank, they've called and told the kids they can be charged, and we have to wait and see what happens. I think it was probably a random thing, they had our number from the leaflet drop Donna did for our missing cat ( yes, we lost both our cats in a couple of months ).

No no, shooting the children on the bus will definitely stop the threats.

My current favourite word is: Waffle Cheese is still good though.

Although I firmly believe one has to right to defend one's self and his/her family, I don't think it would be wise for his kids to handle a gun without close supervision. I first learned how to use and fired a gun when I was 8, but under close supervision I was at an Air Force base shooting range. Perhaps Chris himself should carry it and attend his children to the bus stop. I highly recommend that he get a small firearm for the house. However he lives in a nation where you are not allowed to have adequate means to defend one's self. Even if he lived in America, he would be too scared. He is one who must rely on others to protect him and his family. Perhaps being in fear of his and his family's life will convince him otherwise.

The fact that you are pro-gun that makes a good case for gun control.

The fact that you are pro-gun that makes a good case for gun control.

He's not pro-gun, he's pro-self defense. It just so happens that a gun is a very effective means of defense.

Two cartons of Boags Strongarm and a plane ticket to Tasmania a place to stay for a couple of nights and I will give the kids and their parents a little visit.

I was in a similar situation years back. The callers were not kids but adolecents. The first thing is not to take it seriously, you know, as in actually worrying. Now, both the phone company and police are forced to take it seriously. You can pass it along to them. In my case, I simply recorded the call and let them handle it.
