Looking for a good PDF writer
-
I wonder if anyone can recommend a good pdf writer. I need to produce pdf files of some word processing documents, spreadsheets, etc. and Adobe Acrobat is just too expensive ($300). Google searches on "pdf writer" show a bunch of apps that seem to do the job. Has anyone used any of these apps? Can anyone recommend a good (an inexpensive) one? Julberto

Yes, I use this for MS Office and other print-to pdf functionality, it is used on each of my networked PC's. Also, because web pages and web sites do have a habit of changing quickly, I also use it to print to the hard drive (rather than the usual way of saving web pages complete) and where there are more than one web page that makes a story, the entire story can be assembled (manipulated in various ways) into a single PDF using the free PDF toolkit that comes with it. However, it is a very easy to use although it does need the support of Ghostscript. With Ghostscript installed, there are also other possibilities. No program is trouble-free all of the time and this PDF writer/toolkit is no different in this respect. Give it a try, if you don't like it, uninstall and try something else such as Jaws PDF Creator, which although not free, will print to PDF and also convert postscripted files into PDF documents.
