I still have the scars, and that was just for pitfall or star raiders, I'd hate to see what my brother and I would have done over a modern video game.

My oldest kid is a pro at the boxing game. Also quite good with the bowling.

In order to do some testing on the weekend, I had to buy a 16:9 monitor. The one I got is very sweet, HP, 24", 1900x1200. But, I took my son and in a moment of weakness, bought a Ninteno Wii and a couple of games ( Rayman and Prince of Persia, b/c they were $40 and the others were $90 ). It's pretty sweet, I have to say. Having to spend an extra $120 to have two sets of controllers kind of sucks, but other than that, I just can't wait now for a proper Mario game that goes with it. I guess that will happen about hte time that I have time to play it, mostly the kids are playing it for now.

We've got 4 controllers, and the whole family is playing regularly! We like the Rayman mini-games, Wii Sport, Brain academy, and some of the Wii Games. The kids have been playing Wii Boogie a lot lately! Best advice: get the 4 controllers, and have fun with the whole family (and even with visiting adults!)

Yeah, I've only done a couple of little games for the kids, but it seems like a lot of fun. And, they're getting exercise without even realising it....

I have totally fallen away from my video-game playing youth, but I was at a friend's house after the Aerosmith concert over the summer and in a fit of drunken bravado accepted his offer of a game of Wii Tennis... I "enjoyed" myself so much I damn near dislocated my shoulder. It was two weeks before my ravaged arm muscles were once again strong enough to lift a pint of beer!! There's a certain poetic justice in that methinks... It's a fantastic console though. You just reminded me what I want for Christmas...

Christian, I am 51 years old, bought the Wii 2 seconds after they hit the market & it was the best thing I have ever played. Not only are most of the older games from NES, N64 etc. available to download, the thing plays gamecube discs as well as Wii discs. Super Paper Mario is awesome, you need to get that one & Zelda Twilight Princess I am replaying for the 3rd time. I just love shooting arrows on horseback while being chased by bad guys. I'll stop being a Nintendo salesman now & get back to my c# code.

There are a couple of "Mario"-Games, but they really only are "Mario Themed". There is "Mario Party" which is great fun with 3+ people, and a Wario-Game which really gets you rolling: Fast paced music, increasing difficulty and increasingly demanding "poses". One, for example, is called the "Elephant" in the German version: Use the remote as an extension of your nose. And for most poses, it really makes sense to hold the remote that way :) If I have some money left, I am definitely going to get a Wii myself. Love playing at my sister's, though ;)

I just finished playing the Paper Mario series. Starting with the first one for the NES which I downloaded from the store in the WII, then I played "The thousand year door" which is a game cube game, (my newphew lent me one of his game cube controllers, and I had to buy a gc memory card), and then I finished with Super Paper Mario for the Wii. They all were AWESOME!!! Rayman is a lot of fun, especially when you get to the end and he gets back at the bird...

Actually, in September XBox took the lead again after pumping out Halo 3: http://www.joystiq.com/2007/10/18/september-npd-xbox-360-takes-the-lead-halo-3-to-thank/[^] For me though, it is not the price that is the problem, it is that they have no controls that allow you to "get physical" with the games. I think that is the only reason the Wii ever had decent sales, people want a new experience and end up with more than just a single player with a thumb and wrist pain ;)
