"In this replacement Earth we're building they've given me Africa to do and of course I'm doing it with all fjords again because I happen to like them, and I'm old fashioned enough to think that they give a lovely baroque feel to a continent. And they tell me it's not equatorial enough. Equatorial!" He gave a hollow laugh. "What does it matter? Science has achieved some wonderful things of course, but I'd far rather be happy than right any day." "And are you?" "No. That's where it all falls down of course." I've always wondered where the cutoff between island and continent falls. If there's water all the way round it, then it's an island - surely? (even if in this case, europe, africa and asia would all be one island) -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

Personally, I think the continent of Atlantis is a hands down winner, just from the outline of the perimiter alone. Being underwater of course, from space you have to look for it by the shadows in the ocean, but it's nonetheless a stunning sight. Not at all....but when you get up close -- like being there -- well lets just say my last trip there made me realize its the only continent I want to avoid!! I've been to South Africa and Egypt. South Africa was very interesting, but I've heard its much more dangerous now than it was 10 years ago when I went. Egypt was pretty much the worst country I've ever been to! Yes I went to the valley of the Kings & Queens, the British Museum, the Pyramids.....but I've also been in the country side. The whole place just seemed like it was out of a movie. I can't put into words what I was thinking exactly, but something like -- "I've only got two more weeks left" occured pretty often! Hope I haven't made anyone too mad....;(
