So, my wife found out that a friend's workmate lost her husband to an internet affair. So, she's in a funny mood, talking about cheating, looking through my emails ( I do have a female friend who I write to most days, buy she's married and nothing like that is remotely on the cards ), etc. Women...

I hate to say it, but it sounds like you found the wrong person in the first place. My marriage was like that, and at times it was pretty horrific (never mind the abuse and the rest, just living with her anger and suspicion was bad enough). By way of contrast my relationship with Beth is completely open...we don't need to hide anything from each other, and that's the way it should always be. :rose: Oh and believe me from what I've seen some men can make pretty cranky partners too. ;)

Sounds like an insecurity issue and they can be hard to crack. Empathy just makes things worse because you just communicate even less. It might be better to go to her with your problems ( I'm not saying you have any ) because recognising others weaknesses is the first step to recognising self insecurity which in turn is vital to dealing with it. If you can be vulnerable for her maybe she will feel strong enough to worry less. Sounds crazy but humans are odd like that.:)

Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

Nah, she's 'the one'. There's a few things that have combined to get her like this, it's a temporary problem. We also got a call from the school about my son's lack of academic progress, etc, and that's been a real strain on both of us ( that is, we are worried and trying to find ways to help him )

Now she is going to read this thread. Perhaps you are not giving her the attention she desires. That usually raises a red flag with most people. If you are not giving her enough attention or your communication with her is not what it used to be then she will be paranoid that you are devoting your attention to a girl online perhaps. You do spend a hell of alot of time on the computer.

The secret of a great relationship is simple. Tell the other person you love them and mean it. Don't take each other for granted. Generally go along with whatever the other person wants to do. and (For men) Be the man, there are some things you wont stand for or do, and stick to them, show some spine. Also, dont forget birthdays or anniversaries! (MOST IMPORTANT!) Michelle and I are together 12 years now, and I still lover her like the first time I saw her. This is a true tale, I went for a job interview, looked at the office junior and thought " I am going to marry her!" I got the job, and within 3 months she was living with me, I was 28 she was 17! But I stuck to rules above and we are happy.:rose:

Divorced ? As I heard from stories and other sources, this is very common in American countries. Is it happening really ?

That is a harsh sentiment, she is no child, and 12 years together is not a bad record. You seem to judge me by your standards. I am moral, ethical and educated, not a dirty old man. In fact it is traditional for a man to be older than the women, so please do not direct your puritanical wrath at me!

So, my wife found out that a friend's workmate lost her husband to an internet affair. So, she's in a funny mood, talking about cheating, looking through my emails ( I do have a female friend who I write to most days, buy she's married and nothing like that is remotely on the cards ), etc. Women...

Last weekend, my wife and I bumped into an old girlfriend of mine, along with her husband. She's the same age as me, but looks to be in her mid twenties. I introduced her to the family and she made a fuss of the kids. When we were walking away, Jennifer said to me "I didn't know she was that pretty". She's only just started to speak to me civilly:sigh:. I haven't seen this girl in 20 years, we've both married other people and we broke up because there was no real spark there. What does my wife think I'm going to do now? Break up from a happy marriage and attempt to split another couple? She wants to remember that I chose her and chose to spend the rest of my life with her - not somebody else.

Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

Different continent! Here in UK sex and marriage are legal at 16. (to be fair, Michelle was only 3 weeks from her 18th Birthday when I met her). If you really want to worry ages of consent in other European countries vary from 18 to 12! (14 in France, 15 in Germany, but 12 in Holland, that I think is not only too young, but borderline savage). Those who think I was manipulating a young girl for the worst of motives should be ashamed of themselves for thinking such things, I just fell in love!
