    The Android SDK has just been released over at the Open Handset Alliance[^] It will be interesting to see how the whole gPhone platform thing develops...

          If it becomes popular enough I'm sure that Mono[^] will be ported to run on it too

              Ewww.....I'd rather deal with the java nonsense then. I've tried several times over the last few years to port non-trivial apps to mono and it's been more trouble than it's worth.

                Here you have the Official Android Page where you can already download the SDK and many other things...

                    Not knocking symbian, but... Symbian apps/games = 5% of market J2me = 95% That's what I ment by java rules mobile

                      You sure about that? J2ME is a pretty limited system and on Nokia phones I see a lot of Symbian apps. And there are a lot of Nokia phones out there. From what mobile developer colleagues tell me J2ME is limited in how it can access features on the phone so anything that needs GPS, proper media control etc. uses Symbian. On the other hand Symbian is probably going to be replaced soon and the same colleagues are saying the Android system is a lot more powerful than J2ME. Pity Nokia aren't going to adopt it.

                        Symbian only runs on nokia S60 - which is a smaller percentage of Nokia phones. You have access to more phone features with symbian ... particularly useful for applications, but for games j2me is usually good enough
