By the way may i say, i greatly appreciate this forum, and would like to thank Chris for providing a place for over active minds to unload. However not everyone seems to appreciate the meaning of a forum, there are people who have resulted to insult and other tatics when they don't agree with what u have to say. And i have proof:). I hope u change your ways, and debate your opposition, instead of throwing insults.

I don't have any problem with christianity, contrary to what u may have derived from my statements, i think christian is a great concept on how people should treat themselfs and others. The problem i have is that, religious belief(including christianity) is based on a concept of absolute truth. As a result people who hold those beleifs always feel the need to impose thier beleifs on others one way or the other. I can care less what someone chooses to beleive in, but when u think u have the right to impose that beleif on me either through political influence or violence, then i have a problem with u. Jesus himself may have just being a person with great love for humans, and decided to come up with something that would work in their interest(christianity) as opposed to against them(judeasm). The diversion between christianity and judeasm is just too great for both to have come from the same perfect source.

Well thats fine, like I said I respect peoples rights to make their decisions one way or the other, just as I'm sure you respect my decision. But the majority of Christian people I know dont impose their beliefs, and neither do I. A Christian is called to SHARE their beliefs but not impose them (In fact I would say its IMPOSSIBLE to actually impose beliefs on someone). I will share what I believe in with someone who I think is willing to listen. I disagree totally with trying to force someone to believe As for violence, that doesnt fit with Christianity in any way at all. As for Politically imposing what I believe, well I dont think there ever has been a case where there was a law to believe in Jesus, and there never will be. I think what you are thinking of is probably more of moral issues involved in politics, not religious. Personally, I think its blatantly obvious that the the problems this world faces today are due to slipping moral standards. The trouble with having a society good morals is that it chapps the hides of the people who dont neccessarily agree with them. What the solution to this is, I just dont know? Life's not fair I tell ya, I life was fair I would've been born rich instead of so damn good looking!

I personally think anyone who isn't satisfied with their one turn in the universe is selfish. And ofcourse as far as anyone living a second life, maybe a few of your atoms would make it into some guys sperm stream and some girls eggs and be part of a baby(there's no guarantee that the atoms would even play the same roll and have the same configuration). But that's as fars as u're ever going to get to living a second life.

Let people believe what they want to believe. It's their choice and nothing you or I can say will change that. We all have our strange beliefs, I believe in freedom and justice but lets face it even our governments don't share those beliefs any more :-D Edd wrote: But that's as fars as u're ever going to get to living a second life. Well, I've been watching CP for a long time now but until now have just enjoyed reading the posts. I must say I feel obliged to stand up and identify myself as a Christian here. I also must say that my view on Christianity is that it is a Lifestyle, not a religion. Its not something extra to your life but something central to your life. Anyway, I must commend the people of Codeproject as both sides seem to be able to hold intelligent discussions (a rarity on the internet). This is the way I wish things could be in many places but unfortunately it isnt. I respect each and every persons right to make up their own decisions about God. I wont think any less of them if they decide differently to me although I always hope and pray they change their minds. What has been confusing me a lot recently is the responsibility some people feel they have to destroy other peoples beliefs in God. I dont see what people have to gain through this and really I see it as a sign of your own insecurities about what you believe in (and everyone believes something, that's part of our nature as humans). What good will you feel you have done if you destroy people's belief in God. Although really it doesnt surprise me, the bible talks about scoffers and those who would seek to destroy our faith. I'm quite willing to put my faith to the test (and it hasnt failed so far), but it saddens me to see that others actually have a desire to destroy others beliefs. Life's not fair I tell ya, I life was fair I would've been born rich instead of so damn good looking!

And I commend you for that observation. Your powers of discernment are unique. I, for one, am a believer in my Savior, Jesus. I also believe in reincarnation, which in no way comflicts with anything in His teachings, but does not make me welcome at church socials. Still, that doesn't qualify me to attack others' faiths. God (or Allah, or Yahweh, or that huge turtle on who's back the universe rests) will lead us all to where we need to be. I'm quite willing to trust in that which made it all, and feel no need to attack another's belief system. Maybe that's a part of why I enjoy spending time here. I feel welcome, despite the disagreements we might have. It's good to be back in the company of intelligent, professional peers... I Drowned Schroedinger's Stupid Cat!

I know this is going to kill the fun the lounge denizens have when a newbie posts a programming question in then lounge, but I finally pulled my finger out and updated the 10 lines of code needed to get it working. I'd be good at procrastination if I ever got around to it. cheers, Chris Maunder Rub your belly and pat your head simultaneously. Sometimes that helps me make sense of things - Jon Sagara

People should be forced to sit a test, and their vote should be weighted on the result. Compulsory voting is also a crock. I counted votes one year - the number of people who vote 12345 down the page is frightening. Power seems to go to those who print the voting form.....
