Infact, i was browisng a website for royalty free music (one off payment) you could download samples of the music (super-low quality) or, listen to it online in full quality. It took me about 5 minutes to be able to figure out how to take the full quality mp3's off the webiste for free. I e-mailed them about it, i didn't get a reply. Oh well, their loss, not mine.

Just the othe day, I was browsing my neighbour's house for some quality jewelery and do you know what? In only 5 minutes, I figured out how to break into his house and help myself to all his gold and silver. But I was an honest thief, I left him a note explaining how simple his security was and that he should beef it up, some.

It's funny how you people aren't capable of discerning the difference between data on a computer and actual merchandise. If data is illegally copied when the person wasn't going to buy it anyway, no money is lost. But when physical merchandise is stolen, the store or owner loses the actual item. Your post was a very poor analogy.

It's sad that you do not realize that "data on a computer" or "actual merchandise" both have value to their respective owners. When you choose to ignore that, you are behaving as a common thief.

Excellent read, thanks. The other link in there had more info, including: So Egerstad set about notifying the affected governments. He approached a few, but the only one to respond was Iran. "They wanted to know everything I knew," he says. "That's the only response I got, except a couple of calls from the Swedish security police, but that was pretty much all the response I got from any authority." :-D

My dear young man, you will grow up one day. Honestly. Till then, try not to screw too many people over.

Not true. Hosting isn't free. Bandwidth isn't free. People to keep the servers running, to upload new content and answer support calls are not free. In fact, they are people just like me. People who work every day and need a salary to buy food, rent etc. Are you employed as a programmer?

But has the owner lost the data if it is copied? No. Has the owner lost money if you were not going to buy it anyway? No.

But does the data still have the same value as it previously had? No.

Hacker of the year.... more like moron wannabe of the year. People who hack and brag are nothing more than ego centric fools that need long jail sentences, so they forget everything they know about computers. I think they should hand out the death penalty, so he can be a true legend hacker/cracker. :-D

It's a matter of invasion of privacy. If a thief enters your home via an unlocked door, takes nothing and leaves, he has still broken the law. One should knock and ask permission to enter.

Freedom is paid for with blood, sweat, and tears. Please honor those disabled warriors who served the cause of freedom for their country with more than lip service. Enjoy your freedom.
