We did, but it will be a typical European affair with all of the robots fighting among themselves.
Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

Yeah I commented on the irony of this when I read it was about to be launched. It's even a military comms system  Either the result of geeks with a sense of humour run amok or some jarhead with absolutely no clue. Either way
Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

I love the way Europe's spaceport is about as far from Europe as you can get.
"On one of my cards it said I had to find temperatures lower than -8. The numbers I uncovered were -6 and -7 so I thought I had won, and so did the woman in the shop. But when she scanned the card the machine said I hadn't. "I phoned Camelot and they fobbed me off with some story that -6 is higher - not lower - than -8 but I'm not having it." -Tina Farrell, a 23 year old thicky from Levenshulme, Manchester.

Too bad the soviets didn't do the same thing. The highly inclined orbit the ISS is in so that they can reach it significantly reduces the amount of mass that any booster can transfer to it, and leaves it useless as a construction/staging point for missions beyond Near Earth orbit.

The Soviets were never involved with the ISS! However the Russians put a lot of money and launch technology in, even though THEIR launch facility isn't in Russia either!

Even worse, apparently nobody read the original short story by Harlan Ellison that started it all: I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream[^].

And if the soviets had done what the euros did, instead of putting in in their borders of the time, and bought a 3rd world country along the equator it wouldn't've been necessary to incline the orbit fifty some odd degrees so that the Russians could reach it. We could've parked it in an equatorial orbit which'd be optimal for leaving near earth earth space, and kept the shuttles max load roughly the same. Or if we put in in 23(?) degree orbit we could've maximized the shuttles cargo capacity. Either of those orbits would potentially make things much easier for the euros to send stuff using their own hardware instead of ours. Maybe Japan as well, I'm not sure where their launch site is off the top of my head.
