CodeProject's old URLs
-
To CP supporters: There are millions of links in the Internet to old URLs at CodeProject (those with .asp), most at forums and blogs. Now all those URLs are invalid. I guess that was the best advertising channel for new CP potential members. I think you will need some sort of map table, to trap all these URLs in the Http Request and derive kindly to the proper page. PS. I am still waiting for a response to my previous post (http://www.codeproject.com/Lounge.aspx?fid=1159&select=2349262#xx2349262xx[^]) about my articles updating, maybe you have forgotten since Forum emails are not working right now. Thanks in advance.
Best regards, Jaime.

I think that redirecting the old url to new url is already done. For example. This link www.codeproject.com/asp/codeproject-forum.asp[^] is old URL which is shown in Google. if you click this one then it will redirect to new ULR http://www.codeproject.com/KB/asp/codeproject-forum.aspx[^] So, it's okay.. When Google updated their data then it will automatically show the latest URL in search result to...

The forum is not a good example of redirecting, I have tried with at least 100 links to articles. In few cases there is a warning showing a "similar" article. I am talking about redirecting gently all the articles, one by one.
Best regards, Jaime.

Hi Chris, I have choosen randomly several links from Experts-Expert exchange, where many people including me write lots of reference links to CodeProject articles: http://www.codeproject.com/smartclient redirects wronly to http://www.codeproject.com/KB/wtl/ http://www.codeproject.com/dll/plug-in.asp works well http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/#Design+and+Architecture wrongly redirected to http://www.codeproject.com/KB/system/ http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/WSFileServer.asp derives to a suggesting page (almost right) http://codeproject.com/miscctrl/subclasswnd.asp works OK http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/HwDetect.asp derives to suggesting page (almost right) http://www.codeproject.com/cs/media/directxcapture.asp works OK It is working better now!!! Yesterday I had lots of bad pages. I see a pattern here: - Pages with "useritems" folder doesn't derive to proper page but suggest correctly - URLs to folders are not working correct and derive to an unrelated page/topic

This email was created by Mahmoud Zidan who thought you would be interested in the following article: "NSIS Quick Start" Deploying NET apps with NSIS http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/NSIS.asp CodeProject also contains hundreds of articles, free source code samples and applications to help in your day to day programming. Why not give it a try! Best regards, The CodeProject Team
Every article that I like and/or get after a series of searches I send it to my mail so that I can archive its url and access it later. The problem is that I have in my inbox about 68 of the most important articles to me right now and their links are invalid now. ??????? Mahmoud Zidan myBlog[^]
