Lounge works differently on 2 different computers.
-
I've noticed that the forum seems to work differently between the two different computers on my desk. On my desktop machine (XP SP2, IE7), when I click a new topic or reply, the response is instant and the message is shown immediately. (This is the way things have always worked, IIRC). I'm guessing that all the posts are downloaded at once and then shown or hidden as they are clicked. On my laptop (Vista Ultimate, IE7), the forum always seems to make a round-trip to the server to retrieve a message, resulting in a painfully slow Lounge ExperienceTM. Both machines are on the same network, with roughly the same specs (2Gb, Dual-Core, nVidia 7xxx series video) - the only difference as far as I can see is that one is XP and the other is Vista. Is this normal, or is my laptop just special?

Delete your codeproject cookies and log back in. I'll bet something is getting borked in your cookies. The same thing happened to me with firefox.

I had my first full night sleep on a CPAP machine last night, and for the first time in years it's 2 PM and I'm not tired. I can't believe the difference it is making. I know my apnea/snoring (mostly snoring) isn't anywhere near as bad as your's and Rex's, but I had no idea how much it was affecting me until I'm getting free of it.

Congradulations! Sleep Apnea is one of those things that sneaks up on you over years so that you don't notice. It is the proverbial frog in hot water story. Theoretically if you place a frog (sorry Rex) in hot water he will jump out, but if you put him in cold water and slowly raise the temperature he will not notice it until it is too late. Not sure if that works in real life with frogs, and not tempted to try it anytime (rest easy Rex), but that is exactly how sleep apnea catches you. You slowly loose your sleep, you don't realize how bad it is, until you are out. A CPAP machine is a sudden out, and it is like a magic wand that makes you go, "WOW I never realized it was THAT bad, I feel GREAT today." uh oh.... I just figured out Rex's cap-lock problem.... ;)

Yeah, that's definitely how I've felt, though I'm pretty sure it's been affecting me since age 12 or so. Getting older has made it harder for my body to fight it I think and it became more noticeable. The constant dark circles under my eyes are starting to fade as well. I just can't wait for my body to adjust to getting good sleep. The first few nights with it I woke up after 4-5 hours wide awake, I guess my body got more sleep in those few hours then it was used to.

Actually, the scenario is slightly different: see, if you toss a frog into a pot of boiling water, he'll get scared and jump out. But if you place him gently into a pot of cool water, you'll have time to put the heavy cast-iron lid on before he gets bored and jumps out... ;P
