Kaspersky It also has spyware and firewall. I paid 65 for mine with a 65 mail in rebate that I am still waiting for. Though I expect it will be another month until I receive it. Kaspersky is the best and it doesn't slow your system down.

I orginally ran Norton Internet Security. However, after replacing my Pocket PC that ran Windows Mobile 2003 with a new Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 5, my computer and ActiveSync failed to recognize the new Mobile 5 Pocket PC. After an hours long internet chat with HP (involving many reboots, ActiveSync reinstalls, and Norton reinstalls), it was determined that Norton Internet Security was preventing the new Pocket PC from being recognized. I am not going to run without Anti-Virus or a firewall. So, I switched to the security suite my wife ran on her computer, McAfee. McAfee ran fine on my computer for the year until the new year's version. Then, about every two to three weeks, always on a weekend, my computer would lose it's McAfee subscription information. It would say "Subscription cannot be verified". McAfee's customer support response was always, "Uninstall the software and reinstall". Then McAfee would run for another two to three weeks. I decided to give them 3 strikes. After the third occurrance, I was given a script that saves and restores the subscription information. But, I was determined to switch from being a Beta tester of McAfee's released RTM and retail boxed, Internet Security product and switched to Kaspersky. I have had no problems with Kaspersky. It was tough as nails getting a refund from McAfee since there is a 30-day refund window from purchasing, but since it never provided full 24/7 protection for less than three weeks, I finally got a refund from McAfee. My wife had not had a problem with McAfee, but she renewed in mid-year instead of the first of the year and I reckon that McAfee fixed the problems after many users had complained on their forum of the problem I experienced.

I've used Symantec (at home and work) and McAfee (at home) on and off for years without any troubles. Your mileage may vary, however.

Don't do anything stupid. There you go, no antivirus required. :) I'm not really even joking, I've been computing since the 8088 and never got a virus despite religiously using anti virus software all that time. I'm starting to think it's a waste of money. It's pretty easy to avoid getting on these days if you're behind a firewall use up to date email software and web browser and don't do anything stupid. Conversely lot's of people I know can get a virus within less than a day on a new computer out of sheer stupidity alone. I use the AVG paid for version but only as insurance of last resort, I don't expect to ever actually get a virus. AVG works well for me on my Vista machine, no noticeable affect on performance.
