I know these are not bugs of the day ( bit older maybe repost, don't burn me ), fun facts nonetheless. World of Warcraft: - Player copper limit ( 2.147.483.648 ) ;P Eve Online: - After a patch they were removing or rewriting "/boot.ini", guess they forgot the "." removing boot.ini from root instead of the game folder. Poor fellows who installed on C:\.

Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should. Tweaking a system boot parameter to make your game run is idiotic. Find out what's causing it not to run, and fix that. Probably find it didn't run properly if hardware DEP was enabled. (I've found a few hints on this already.) The correct thing to do is use the /NXCOMPAT:NO linker switch.

I had a problem years ago with Star Trek Starfleet Acadamy. Worked perfectly well until I upgraded my joystick to a USB connection. Never worked again! (You could fire, but not manoeuvre, and if you went back to previous joystick,it didn't respond at all, it had to be a complete reboot!) I never worked out the problem!

As far as I remember, it wasn't trying to edit C:\boot.ini, but a file of the game itself, that unluckily was called boot.ini and resided in C:\Program Files\whatever. A bug made the path to the file to appear as /boot.ini and at the next reboot... you may imagine what happened.

I just purchased the Founders subscription yesterday. It was a late birthday present to myself, with permission from my wife. You really should try it online. I was playing last night with 3 other people (2 other Marksmen and a Guardian) using xfire[^] voice chat. It really is a different game online, especially if you can hook up with some decent folks. The squad of marksmen at the back of the group was covering the Guardian up front (who was doing a fine job of keeping monsters off our weakly armored hides!) by throwing grenades and firing everything from rocket launchers to electropulse rifles and tagging the demons with beacons and pulse grenades. Good times. And I'm looking forward to getting home from work today to see what the patch has to offer
