    I need a new computer desk (with room for my server, a couple of external hds, a monitor, my laptop, and a couple of routers) and a comfy chair (like the rest of me, my back started complaining after 30 ;) ). Anyone have any online/physical store preferences (in the US)? Brand preferences? If your setup cost more then say $700, thats very nice but I'm way too cheap!

      You want to out source a desk? Gee, I thought us developers were all the same. Don't we usually just go and build what ever we need. ;P

        1. Walk out into barn
        2. Look around
        3. Spot nice piece of wood
        4. Does it fit through door?
          Yes => Use it
          No => Cut it
        5. Varnish it
        6. Put it ontop of existing desk
        7. Find nice chair

        There, only the cost of the chair. I am missing my desk from home, that thing's 5' by 4', just a nice piece of sanded and varnished wood placed ontop of an existing desk. Plenty of room for 2 17" CRTs, 1 22" TFT, 3 computers, hub, printer, scanner, couple of books, laptop and external hard drives. Chair that I got was about £180 and is very comfortable and sufficiently high that if I'm so inclined I can put my feet up on the desk and carry on. :rolleyes:

              I see a flaw in your plan ... it requires the existence of a desk already. Wait a second that sounds familiar, we're you the PM on a project I worked on a couple of years back ..? ;)

                        Desk.NET makes building a table fast, and easy. AND you can use any kind of wood, since it all comes down to intermediate tools.

                            Probably not but it is cheap and very functional. I've use it and it does work! Besides it comes in various sizes, 24, 28, 30, 32 and 36 inches wide by 80" long. Mike :)

This was my work area setup when I started my first job out of college. It worked well, it had lots of desk & storage space ..... but the room was a bit drafty....! ;) Cheers,

                                  There is no 'Computer Desk' marketed as such which you can sit at an work comfortable at. Big flat desks are the best thing invented for computers.
