From the Beeb[^] Some idiot dresses like a fool, gets engaged to another fool (who shares the same fashion standards), and then leads her around on a leash. Yes, a leash. At this point, common sense alone would kick in and hopefully neither of these two will reproduce. Sadly, they feel the need to ride the bus, together, with a leash. As one might expect, the bus driver wasn't too keen, and asked them to get off. The goth couple are now claiming discrimination. Gag me with a riding crop Mistress, but WTF!!! Idiots!!!

There are no new levels to human stupidity, just new ways of expressing it.

I will agree they went too far, but I have no qualms about dressing Goth. Neither bothers nor otherwise upsets me. But then I don't easily get offended by others dressing as they want. My favorite high school teacher was color blind and accidentally pulled out orange pants and green plaid jacket with a yellow tie. It was a bit painful, and I gently told him what he was wearing.... but I didn't have any more heart attacks with him than I did in college with all the other people. But then I guess that means I am strange myself, I guess only a fool accepts others based on what they do, not how they dress right Jim? :sigh:

It takes all kinds. As long as I do not have to dress/act/think like them I am okay with whatever they want to ware. The bus drive should have said she would need to sit on the floor! (from dog comment) djj

hmmmm... with what level of beer goggles? I will admit not havng looked at the pic since I am still at work (updating my system to the latest Intel compiler and libraries, full set of libraries for the first time, so I am more distracted with software goodness to peek at other well software).

Years ago, at a buddy's stag, we chained him up for the night. By the time 4 AM rolled around, no one could remember the combination for the lock, so he and I took a bus from Kingston to Toronto to get an airplane home. The bus driver had no problems with my buddy wrapped up in chains, but at the ticket counter for the airline, they were a little suspect. A short while later, security and maintenance people arrived and the lock and chains were removed before we boarded the flight. :) Oh and yes, alcohol was involved.

Honestly, they don't bother me at all. Eventually, he's going to lose respect for his "pet" and the "relationship" will end. I don't want to tell people how to live. Nor do I want anyone telling me how to live. If they are happy and not bothering anyone else then so be it. At the same time, they do look like a couple of morons.

Fools, maybe, but Idiots? No way. Look at how much attention they have so far and think of the attention they are yet to get as they fly to talk shows all over the world. Sometimes the fool is the one who becomes rich and famous.

Is it dumb ? Yes. But, so what ? I say let them get on the bus. Why do they act like that, except because they want attention ? I say don't give it to them.

I hate to say this... but when someone forces me to tolerate this disgusting and pathetic behavior, they are in fact telling me how to live. By subjecting a bus full of people to this foolishness and expecting them to sit there and tolerate it, they were telling a bus full of people how to live. Life does not get better when everyone has to simply silently sit and tolerate whatever bullshit someone else feels is their "right".

Yeah, I don't have a problem with that. I more mean that people who do things like that, I think *hope* to be persecuted in some way, it gives them validation.

I don't consider them stupid because of the way they dress. That's just a bit... different. As long as they aren't hurting anyone, who cares?!

There are other types of discomfort other than physical discomfort. She could be giving him head on the bus, and that wouldn't cause me physical discomfort, but it's not something I'd want my wife or my daughter or my mother or my son to be subjected to. Nor would I particularly care to see it myself, and tolerating it would make me uncomfortable. I don't think you got the point.

Well, when you put it that way, you make a good point. They probably should save all the leash stuff for when they are at home. You're probably right.

Idiots!!!

Yeah, I don't have a problem with that. I more mean that people who do things like that, I think *hope* to be persecuted in some way, it gives them validation.

But hard to say really until you talk to them and ask about it. People probably act and dress differently for as many different reasons as there are people who do it. Sometimes people may do something just because they want to with no thought or care in the world how others will react then when they get a lot of negative reaction it may actually drive them to go the whole "we're being persecuted" route. It's age old really. Humans benefit greatly from conformity and herding but they never get anywhere new until someone goes against the herd in some way or another. It's this innate struggle in humanity which got us where we are today for bad or for good.
