Canuck who is a little confused about how safe my country really is. After all according to the Australian government, they are advising caution when travelling to Canada. Link[^]. Apparently we are a haven for terrorists. Geez I wonder if Chris is going to coming back here after all. Enjoy the holiday. :)

Pay close attention to your personal security and monitor the media for information about possible new safety or security risks. Terrorism is a threat throughout the world. Well, it doesn't hurt to look over the shoulder from time to time and be aware of the surroundings. I think it is their way of telling people to be alert. The language of the link doesn't sound panicky, just cautious.

Honestly, if someone is going to set off a dirty bomb or fly an airplane into a building, is looking over my shoulder from time to time going to help? Where I live, I might at best be able to duck a cloud of flatulence from a nearby cow. And if I'm going to be alert, well, that alertness is going to be directed to the maniacal drivers, my homicidal neighbor, and single engine Cessna's falling out of the sky. Marc

Hardly. With all this gov't intervention, we're moving closer and closer to a socialistic state. And with elections determined essentially by who gets the most money, it's not exactly unbiased. Erm...ok....maybe I'll go visit the soapbox. :) So, how's the weather??? Marc

It was sunny today after getting 24-30" of snow and the next storm is sitting off the coast waiting to hit us with another 12" tonight/tomorrow, so how's the weather? Splendid :-\

Cool! I wish we had some snow. The only snow here is what's left on the north side of everyone's house. I'm hoping for a good blizzard before spring sets in. Last year, we were in Spring Valley NY when the big snowstorm hit. It was amusing and sad to watch this guy have to dig himself out of the parking lot, after the plows locked him into his parking spot with a 4 foot bank of packed snow on both ends of his car. You'd have thought the hotel staff would have come out to help him. Of course not. Me, I just drove over/through it. Gotta love 4WD. Marc

Yep. Always berm busting like that here.

No kidding. Nothing better than pulling up to a California Highway Patrol chain control, and telling them I've got 4WD and chains in the trunk ( only once I've had to put chains on the 4WD ).

You need not worry about that. It's the US Spy satellite you will have to keep an eye out for *. But you need not really worry, the White House are monitoring the situation. In a Dirty Harry voice, ask yourself : Do I feel lucky ... * [^]

The Mister Know-It-All shows on the Bullwinkle cartoons had always been a favorite of me and my grandfather's. Just about as witty as Calvin's dad in the Calvin and Hobbes comic strips whenever Calvin asks his dad a serious question that he can't or doesn't want to answer.
