I met Somasegar. He's a nice guy. Smart, charismatic, etc. Providing our customers with best in class development tools is only one piece of what we need to do to help them be successful or, in some cases, even get started. So why does he always write this drivel? Somasegar, have you been reading the posts about your "best in class development tools" from the perspective of the C++ community here? The first, and probably most broadly implemented, is through blogs like ScottGu’s. Blogs. Blogs are so, like, dude, valley girl talk. They are not a replacement for quality documentation!!!! Author's beware (not my caps): WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, COPYING OR REPRODUCTION OF THE SOFTWARE TO ANY OTHER SERVER OR LOCATION FOR FURTHER REPRODUCTION OR REDISTRIBUTION IS EXPRESSLY PROHIBITED, UNLESS SUCH REPRODUCTION OR REDISTRIBUTION IS EXPRESSLY PERMITTED BY THE LICENSE AGREEMENT ACCOMPANYING SUCH SOFTWARE. Which could be interpreted to mean that you can't post your own code on your own server once you post it on the MSDN server, unless it's in your license agreement. And connecting the dots (my bold): Any software that is made available to download from the Services ("Software") is the copyrighted work of the registered users of the Services posting the Software, or their suppliers. ... Permission to use Documents (such as white papers, press releases, datasheets and FAQs) from the Services is granted, provided that: (1) the below copyright notice appears in all copies ... Copyright © 2006-2007 Microsoft Corporation, . All rights reserved. So, does anyone disagree, that what this terms statement is saying, is that the Service that you post, that includes documents, is copyrighted by Microsoft? Because, there is a confusion between Services and Software (the words in parenthesis above) and the use of the word "Software" in "posting the Software", which can be construed as meaning Services ("Software"), and thus "Services". They need better lawyers. ;) Marc

That's why I don't enter photo contests... they generally say that all entries become their property and they can do what they like with them. Get even, don't participate.

blog: TDD - the Aha! | Linkify!| FoldWithUs! | sighistI'm having a very hard time understanding what costs more. 1. Paying a lawyer to encapsulate all you do in legalese and mambo-jambo so nobody can sue you or otherwise take your money. 2. Just getting sued and handing over the money they want. At least option to cuts out the lawyer and he has to get an honest job selling hot-dogs with a forged vendors permit at 95% of the public venues he chooses to appear at. At least then... you know a hunk of meat is going between some buns (aka getting screwed) a bunch of toppings (shirt, tie, armani suit) try to dress up the act but in the end some dude with all the morals of a street vendor just screwed some mostly innocent individual out of every dollar they've got. If he didn't succeed at that it means he got them earlier when they paid him to write all the documents to protect them from *him* when he's working for their neighbor. ... I just don't get it. But at least I've always found your sense of humor and your perspective very refreshing...
