Software to Pump Gas

I think I will still pump my own gas. This looks like it could scratch or dent way too easy, and if the controlling software crashed. :wtf: But still cool
That's not gonna work so well for those people with locking gas caps ... Now, make something like that for Hydrogen fueled cars ... new technology, new "cap", etc... etc... just a thought.

As someone who used to program 6 and 9 axis robots like this color me impressed. I doubt well see this in production anytime soon (ever) but it was great to watch.

Are we as a human race getting so lazy that we dont even want to get out and fill our own car up?? We are already seeing eftpos and credit card machines at the bowser to save people walking ALL the way into the shop to pay.

the cell phone danger is myth, but they understandably take the side of caution. It takes a lot to spark, though I had one cell phone I figured I knew where the myth came from. It used to release a spark that was large and visible when a call came in. If you weren't grounded and holding it, you did not want to touch it until after it went to voice mail and had a chance to disappate what ever built up... it never started a fire... but it hurt like heck! It did kill a watch that I had in my hand when I reached for it once.... fried it but good. but if the cell phone is healthy, there realy is no danger. now medical equipment, that is no myth....

If they are going to all that trouble, why isn't the gas line integrated into the robotic arm? Why ape human behaviour when you don't have to?
I would say it's because the guy invented a robot to pump gas, not a new kind of gas pump. Gas pumps are probably required to conform to many different regs and specs, and I am assuming he wasn't going to start messing with all that.

Not just that, but one station near where i work has pumps that take cash so even people without CCs can pay without walking inside. They had a single stand alone change machine at one point as well but it was removed so if you're not buying an even $5 of gas with cash you still have to walk inside for your change anyway. :rolleyes:
Otherwise [Microsoft is] toast in the long term no matter how much money they've got. They would be already if the Linux community didn't have it's head so firmly up it's own command line buffer that it looks like taking 15 years to find the desktop. -- Matthew Faithfull

So can you tell me why so many doctors over here in Oz have their mobile phones with them and turned on while near all the medical equipment but mine has to be turned off? I have a great time asking these wankers what modifications they have made to render their mobiles harmless when it comes to intefering with said medical equipment, especially if they have the same model as me.

none, you or your insurance company will pay for any tests that have to be performed again, or replacements of equipment. The RF burst from a call in is actually pretty decent, it won't kill anything but it may throw them off, enough to cause problems.... but since you are paying them money, are not likely to bother changing their lifestyle, you'll pay them the same amount to run the test again because it came back wrong. :-D

Here in generic small town USA we dream of that. You couldn't get a shopworker or gas attendand to shut up if you paid them. They want to know all the juicy details of your life and your family's to spread around. :laugh:
