It's more to avoid the extremely slow-moving queue as they only have one cash register open even though they've got 8 pumps in constant use with cars queueing up waiting for a pump. This is partly because they're trying to sell you groceries, snacks and magazines but I JUST WANT TO PAY FOR MY PETROL DAMMIT!

Ok, ok, i get the picture there. I am from a regional area, so we dont have huge lines. < geniune question > What about Drivethrough? i see 5 or 6 cars in the drive through and only 1 or 2 ppl inside. (AT TIMES) it is quicker to park, walk in, order, pay, walk out. But people insist on sitting there to save them walking 15m. Can you explain that one?? </ genuine question >

< answer> I would have to put some decent clothes on to go inside, maybe even wash my face and brush my teeth. That would require getting out of "programming mode" and into "deal with humans" mode. As is, I can go in my 'nammers. Also, the drive-through window gets priority service, so if someone at drive through orders my burger, they get it and I wait even though they are 3-back in the queue.

So can you tell me why so many doctors over here in Oz have their mobile phones with them and turned on while near all the medical equipment but mine has to be turned off? I have a great time asking these wankers what modifications they have made to render their mobiles harmless when it comes to intefering with said medical equipment, especially if they have the same model as me.

As far as I can tell its a myth. My wife used to work in a medical clinic. They had signs around saying to turn off your cell phone. Once I was in there was to see the doctor and someone still had it on, took a call and started talking....the receptionist gave him both barrels. Later I asked my wife about it and asked if it really interfered with equipment. She said "No, we don't have anything it could interfere with but its very annoying to staff and patients so we make everyone turn them off!" :omg:

The big benefit here is that when we're all cruising around in self-driving vehicles in 2018 (according to GM), the car won't have to wake us up at 2 AM to fill it up with gas while we're sleep-driving our way to vacation.

Yes, they are. I think because the disgusting black diesel exhaust is so eco-friendly the diesel pump handles are green. X|

Mine too, also the cover opens differently. I wonder if they will program various makes & models into it and have some sort of recognition when the vehicle drives up?

Are we as a human race getting so lazy that we dont even want to get out and fill our own car up?? We are already seeing eftpos and credit card machines at the bowser to save people walking ALL the way into the shop to pay.

Maybe, but I think this will also save the stinky hand syndrome that many of us experience when filling up on the way to work. We then are forced to walk around smelling like a gas station because the smell doesn't wash off.

I really think that this is a matter of speed. If I am running late to work and need gas, I can't afford to spend 10 minutes standing in line inside the store waiting for a clerk to quit gabbing to his/her friend.

I am wondering how it determined it was a car that took unleaded and not diesel?
