      Oh, crap! Thats right! My favorite Pho shop, Pho 75 is closed on New Years. Guess I have to eat in Cafeteria this week :(( Happy Rat Year.

              interesting question; my knowledge on this is limited but I don't think the "beginning" is kept track of. Instead we keep track of the year within 12-year cycles.

                AFAIK they count the years (in such cycle) from the beginning of certain dynasty, and they were at the 5th millennium... or so I was told... [EDIT] So, according to this[^], we're in the 4705 year. Nice. :) [/EDIT]

                  The Chinese lunar calendar for the win! Since it's obviously way ahead of the Western calendar, I'm thinking about revolving my life around that calendar. :)
