I admit there is a saying 'Love is Blind'. Would that mean this catastropic cat-walk to empty the bank account?

Nope - it means that even a pig in lipstick stands a chance at love.

/rant I'm absolutely shocked to see blokes walking down the street carrying bunches of flowers in a way that it looks like as if they're taking dogs for a walk! :omg: Stalk ends in their palms with the heads of flowers pointing down towards the pavement  and not alone that, we're talking about at most 100 euros worth of flowers that will probably wilt and lilt by next monday at the latest...I'd rather spend 20 euros on a bunch of flowers and use 80euros to take her out for a lovely meal and with change left - a few bottles of wine...:sigh: who says romance is dead! :sigh: /rant Now...I've aired my view...I feel better...:-D Thanks, Enjoy the day with your loved ones... ;) Tom.

"bottles of wine" paid for with "change"? On the next morning, you two will feel like clubbed unconcious.

This helps to keep the stems of the flowers straight while they are out of water.

See, if you buy the ones they haven't hacked the roots off of, you can actually keep 'em alive for a while... :^) The day's a sham in any case. I've pulled off several nice, romantic dinners this year, thoroughly enjoyable for the both of us... but today, because of the expectations pushed on her by all these damn advertisers, i can pull out all the stops and it'll still feel forced and unpleasant. Even with plenty of wine, there's just no substitute for spontaneity.

But who is the king of all of these folks?

just run down to the jewelry shop buy a rose dipped in gold, $50USD, they gift wrap it, sign the card, take home. Of course you can't wield it like a club.... but nothing says "I love you" like a living thing killed and preserved forever by dipping in molten metal. ;P

That's funny. I was just thinking that you could harness the power of teenage boys wrists to generate far more energy than was being created through Nanowires[^]. You could power a city block of one spotty teenager and he'd be giving something back to the community.

 LOL I've had a similar thought... imagine harnessing the power of couples at it (who would generally output a lot more energy). Just imagine the generated power on valentines day :)
