I've just been given a stack of files by a friend. They come from an inventory / accounting type system that was used around 95-00 but we have no idea of what application they came from as it predates his ownership of the business. Is there any program that would be able to make a guess as to what app / version had written to these files or what DB format they are in? There are no file extensions on the files. Cheers Russell

I'm a qualified COBOL programmer. I have zero experience, but I have a COBOL diploma from van Zyl and Pritchard. They put me onto SAP (ABAP/4) before I was exposed to the risk of COBOL.

there is always the possibility of raw home-built database storage via n-leaf tree structures.
