I'm looking for some MP3 software that will search out and import all my MP3's but only once. I'm kind of a 'file slut' and right now I have 900,000+ MP3 songs (all legal) and I have so many because I have 20 to 30 copies of each. I'm looking for a program that will import a single unique song only once and then let me move them to one convenient location. Is there such a thing?

It's 2 terabytes of storage. Keeps locking up. (Yes I have a PC with that many bays and the drives I've accumulated over the years have caused some congestion.) I have tried many a DFF but all of them lock up. If you can recommend one capable of an ocean of data that large then I'm all ears.

I get a 1.0 vote every time I open my mouth (errr keyboard). Someone doesn't like me when I get just the slightest opinionated. As long as I keep it clean with no opinions I escape unscathed. So I have a discerning 1.0 voter who just wants to see me be less of "know-it-all-opinionated-jerk" and just a jerk. I haven't decided yet if I should do that or keep pushing their buttons. I know the method to their madness and it's entertaining. Sherlock Holmes is dead and so in my "opinion" so is the investigation. I actually have the ways and means to find out but it's so expensive and I have to involve 3 other people and we have to scrape pages on the site and do so much processing. The cost of learning exceeds the value of the results. One time I did it for Chris only to learn that Chris knew it all along. After that I've told Chris I'd be his hit man any time. After saying that though I've abandoned that way of thinking and adopted Chris's way of thinking. Which is more to the affect of, "They are here. They always will be here. You can let them distract you and clutter up the place with whining or you can just keep doing the things that make this place unique and not worry about them." I've had a lot of chats with Chris and have concluded that if we were a "tribe" then we have certainly picked a worthy "chief" and I don't think he's earned that status by-proxy. I've watched how he handles things and it's just great. He struggles as much as anyone for time, money, patience, peace, joy, laughter and yet you hardly ever see any of that come through here. He's good stuff. But I see that in the aussie's that come here. I think Michael Martin might be undervalued in that respect. I've spoken to him on the phone though and at length. I would drive a long damn long way to help Michael Martin. I kind of wish I had a Michael Martin in Boise, ID. There's not enough beer in Boise, Idaho for one Michael Martin but I think the local proprietors could adjust to meet the need. :-D I'd trust my kids with the guy on any day of the week including the days where his team plays poorly and gets beat by SA or the limies. Yup the aussies here are a special breed and I think they are the oil that keeps the machine "lubricated" and that one is for your Michael Martin. Anyway worry less about the votes and more about keeping the content coming that we all love. I never see John Cardinal or Marc Clifton get distracted by it and neither should we. After all it's just a link really. Maybe it's a fetish for someone. Maybe the guy

                    If all MP3 tagged Then
a software that only check the tags will probably be more efficient in your case.
                    Else
Use a software to tag them if possible ;) (I give a try to Tag&Rename and it's great. It can tag from folders name and/or file name)
1st pass for duplicate file name
                    2nd pass for duplicate tag
3rd pass for duplicate file checksum
                    End If

That's quite an opus there, code-frog...a simple 'no' would have sufficed. :) I like your 1's and 0's idea...maybe they're slowly communicating on a secret serial port or something :) Long Live Michael Martin

Ignore them Rex. An arsehole is an arsehole is an arsehole - and the sounds that come out of their "orifice" is just wind. Leaves an unpleasant smell, but that passes by eventually.

Give DiskState[^] a go. I bought it about 8 years ago or so, to clean out a ton of duplicated data we had at work at the time. It obviously wasn't terabytes of data back then, but it was on network drives and didn't have a problem. It has been upgraded many times since then and I still haven't had to pay another cent for it since the initial outlay.

The moment they heard this all the smiling face turned into a sad looking face and one of them farted. So I had to leave the place as soon as possible." - Mr.Prakash One Fine Saturday. 24/04/2004
