Well it's my first day at my new job. I finally get a window! two of them. I'm so excited. Odd, I didn't have a computer prepared when I got here so I have to wait for it to be re-imaged. Guess I better troll around the forums. I wonder if they have SQL server or 1600 access databases... :-D

I'm on the opposite path. I started my career with floor-to-ceiling windows in my own office. At the next job, I was in an isolated lab with 4 other devs. Now I'm in a cube farm with very low walls. Pretty soon, I'll be scatching out code in a dirt patch with an amputated chicken foot. ;)

The step after that is writing code with an attached foot. . .of a condor.

And you didn't bother to ask this during the interview?

Is this something you typically ask in an interview? "Excuse me, do you have SQL Server or 1600 Access Databases"?

it came up...but I didn't really get into specifics as the crew interviewing me were not all technical. i think only 1 person in the roomm would have known if SQL server was running on the web server.

Don't you just love interviews where all the interviewers are afraid you'll ask them a technical question?

And you get the answer, "Of course, 1600 Access database. Why do you want to pay for SQL server when Access is free." Sadly, it happened to me once, needless to say, I did not accept the offer.

Let's see. I have one window in the office, 3 in the livingroom where I often work, two in the bedroom when I feel like taking a nap, a door I walk out and go visit the geese pond any time I want...shall I go on? Marc
