odometer roll-over
-
Something was somehow lacking today as the numbers in my car's digital odometer changed from 099999 to 100000 when I compare it to the memories of watching my dad's car's mechanical odometer do the same. :(( :sigh: It just didn't have the same sort of satisfaction. Judy

Judy - I need for you to do a lot more miles in the coming months to see if you can get an overflow exception :D

Yeah, it's odd, it should change to form 099999 to 09999A
Mostly, when you see programmers, they aren't doing anything. One of the attractive things about programmers is that you cannot tell whether or not they are working simply by looking at them. Very often they're sitting there seemingly drinking coffee and gossiping, or just staring into space. What the programmer is trying to do is get a handle on all the individual and unrelated ideas that are scampering around in his head. (Charles M Strauss)

In my previous car, I anxiously watched as the (mechanical) odometer went from 199,999 to 200,000 when I heard a faint "snap" ... the odometer stopped rotating - one of the plastic gears had broken a tooth - too much stress moving all of those digits ... :sigh: :-D

Nah, they just made a special version of the odometer for those decimal Americans. ;)
