Second Jobs?

I was wondering if any of you have jobs other than your regular positions. I'm a full time software engineer, but I'm giving serious consideration to getting my bartenders license and sitting behind a bar a few nights a week to make some extra cash. Thoughts?? I tended bar for over 5 years here in the states. It was on the beach on the Southern California coast so there were a few nice job perks :cool: My advice would be to find an upscale place to do it. The dive bars tend to attract the 'less desirable' elements X|

Just don't expect to go home with a different adoring woman each night. Natasha's too young to drive (except when she drives us up the wall) but she has a very active social life and is always off to parties. yeah i guess im yet to have that bad of a bar experience... so i shouldnt judge! i bet bartending is a great way to mak new friends through co-workers. it must be refreshing to hang out with people who dont think in code for a change! I'm too stressed to take a 2nd job, but if I'd be in that situation I'd take a job as a bartender too. Lots of stories, lots of people, lots of women ;) When I was young my mother told me to clean up my room, I told her -1!

I suggest you read the Callahans Place series of books by Spider Robinson. Once I pick one up, I can't put it down until I've finished it. Calahhans is a bar that is frequented by some interesting characters. Paresh Solanki "Set you're faces to stunned..."

I had a second coding job very briefly, but poor communication and a very hectic schedule pretty much killed that. I hated the sort of work anyhow, it was all GUI stuff. They never even released the code I wrote, as far as I can tell. I write magazine articles at home, which is probably too sporadic to be a second job, but it pays pretty well all the same, when the US/AU$ conversion does it's magic.
