There are certain buzzwords that are starting to appear in mainstream use, that really annoy me! The biggest culprit is 'Mashup' What was once quite happy to be a compilation, a medley, or a collage, is now a mashup. And to make matters worse, the majority of these 'mashups' are created by some clown taking something interesting, an stripping out the bit he / she thinks are interesting, and publishing the result, usually to some poorly chosen, ear bleeding music, for unimaginitive people with short attention spans. What's next, the olympic 400m individual mashup? :sigh:

REST is a big annoyance! I'm so sick of all the puns! How many more presentations on REST do we have to have with "clever" puns in the title like "Losing Sleep Over REST?" arrgghhh!

The one my boss uses that drives me up one side of the cube and down the other (and that includes through the open air above :) ): "Dialed in." Usage: "So, once you get that report dialed in, let me know so I can give you ten tons of other crap to do."

“Acer, Gateway, and eMachines are the same company now. Great! Now we just need a really big toilet, and we can get rid of all three at once.”

The SCM system we use at work now has a companion 'Business Mashup' edition. Nope, I have no idea what that's meant to mean either.

Our bug tracker just did the same thing - changed to a "business mashup" company.

"Web 2.0" - especially when used by clueless executives or marketing people trying to sound un-technologically-challenged.

"Let's go ahead and..." I often want to keep a tally of how many times "go ahead" are said during tutorial videos. It's so annoying when you are aware of it. So there, I've ruined it for all of you now!

"Marketecture" - the use of popular and fashionable technical terms and buzzwords to assist with the marketing and selling of a product. And yes, I have heard someone talk seriously about Marketecture without cracking a smile. They were quite put out when I laughed.

My most hated buzzword: FYI As in: FYI, I want to give you a phony compliment about something you did but I REALLY am using that to mask that I want to tell you I didn't like it because your speed/efficiency intimidated me and that you shouldn't do anything to stand out because I think it SUCKS!!!!!!

Whatever happened to "the customers" or "the visitors"? "Consumer" and sometimes "user" are other buzzwords I don't like because although they really are descriptive of people taking actions, they have become interchangeable with being people who are impersonal nothings rather than the individuals who may actually be paying money for the service/product being provided. . .
