Thats because they jumped in the gaming market, where the money is at. Operating systems use to be fun and exciting but nothing has really changed with them, games on the other hand, have been advancing rapidly with new technologies and ideas. Microsoft needs to figure out a way to make operating systems new and innovative again. Maybe they could make an os that is AI like, where it could be more human. All they need to do is emerge from their cubicles, get out and breathe in the fresh air and start doing what they do best, start inventing again.

Innovation is over rated. Just produce an os that gets out of the way so people can do their work.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects. - -Lazarus Long

Hi, I was reading a translation of this news yesterday but I couldn't find any information on the Gardner website related to there research so thanks for the link. From the Article: Their advice to Microsoft took several forms, but one road they urged the software giant to take was virtualization. "We envision a very modular and virtualized world," said the researchers, who spelled out a future where virtualization -- specifically a hypervisor -- is standard on client as well as server versions of Windows. At Microsoft: http://www.microsoft.com/virtualization/promise.mspx[^] :)

With friendly greetings,:) Eric Goedhart Interbritt
