Has anyone benefited from being an MVP or MCSD? Is it recognised by employers around the globe in the same manner or is the recognition given to that qualification different on location? As I seem to have some spare time on my hands I might start working on it but...

I guess I would have... After cancelling my university study (after a whopping 12 semesters), I applied at the co-company of the place where I made my MCSD. They would have taken me (I picked another offer) and I'm fairly sure they would at least have been more reluctant (or stingy) if I wouldn't have passed the MCSD exams.

They seem quite specialized - the vast majority of hte people I know of that have these kinds of things are systems administrators in Windows-only shops. Even if you win the rat race, you're still a rat.

I've survived 14 years of software development without one... never been asked about having one. With the fast changing world of development tools and ideas, how meaningful is a certificate anyway? Michael :-) Look, try and use your intelligence, man, even if you are a politician. - The Doctor

I would say it depends of the company. I am .NET MVP awarded and currently searching for a job. The last three I met know about MVP, but I also met some that did not know about. Laurent Kempé Tech Head --- Old programmers never die, they just branch to a new address.
