Petrol is heading for $2.00 a litre here!

I'm glad I ride my bike to work... Petrol price rises again The cost of fuel has risen again with BP increasing its prices by 3 cents a litre. It takes 91 Octane to $1.89 a litre, and 95 Octane to $1.95. A BP head office representative said they would be unavailable to comment on the hike before mid-afternoon. Local BP stations cited a policy of not revealing prices over the telephone.

Here it's at ~2.2USD per litre. The prices are just crazy, luckily I use my car maybe once every week. Even crazier, the traffic outside is just the same. I live in a city, most people here could as well ride a bike to get to work, I can't even guess how they can continue spending that much!

I was in Venezuela recently and petrol there is 3 pence a litre. No, I kid you not! I couldn't believe it! They are the fourth biggest oil producer in the world, and whilst they sell internationally for far more, the home grown use is kept low for political reasons. Chavez is no fool! But even so, 3p a litre... We pay £1.07 a litre, that is a 3500% markup! :(

We're at around 1,40 EUR per litre at the "normal" stations. However, my employer has a "private" station that sells at the purchase price plus maintenance costs (1,30 EUR / litre).

Geez I thought we had it hard in New Zealand... Bearing in mind that our dollar is only ~70-80c US... so we're only paying ~$1.60US... $2.20US is really steep!!...($2.75NZ/Litre... urghghg)

Ouch! We're about 5p cheaper in Scotland, but even that still smarts.

Currently on £1.10 here at my local garage for your bog-standard petrol, makes me sick. I remember just 2 years ago it was about 84p!

blog: TDD - the Aha! | Linkify!| FoldWithUs! | sighistYes your right. NZ dollars are ~70-80c US. 91 not so long ago (6 or 7 years) was under NZ$1 a litre, and 95 barely over NZ$1. We are seeing the cost of a barrel constantly exceed US$100 - which not so long ago, was unthinkable. I don't know how the rest of the world is coping, but wages are not increasing anywhere near as fast as the price of oil here. I predict that many people will soon be forced out of there cars and into other means of transport.
