I've heard it's very much like Ireland... Must visit there sometime :-)

So I’m heading off to New Zealand on the Monday after next, for a much-deserved break :-D. I was born there, but since I only lived there for 3 years of my life, I have no idea what I should be seeing while I’m there. I’m planning on being there for a month’s time, so I think I’ll start on the north island and work my way down to Stewart Island. Anybody have suggestions for stops along the way? cheers, -Ben

N.Z. Was there 8 years ago and the memories are still fresh. Places to visit - IMHO : Bay of Islands/Paihia area (N. of N. Island) Napies (N.Island) Kaikoura (N.E. coast of S.Island) Christchurch (E. coast of S.Island) Queenstown (if you are an adrenaline junkie or want to try ski-ing for a couple of days) Lake Matheson (S. Island) Milford Sound (S.W. of S. Island) The northern part of S.Island is lovely, including the wine-making region of Blenheim, Marlborough. If you are into multi-day hiking, I would suggest the Abel Tasman trail (N.W. of S.Island), near Picton. Have fun, Laurence

Thanks Laurence, that’s quite the list, and from the travel site I've been looking at, they all sound great. Christchurch is definitely on the list; I was born just outside of there in a small University town called Lincoln. Also, the part of my family that still resides in NZ also recommended I give Queenstown a visit, so I guess it really must be worth the time. cheers, -B

Actually, to be more specific, Ireland, Scottland, and such. No real interest in the London area. Tim Smith I know what you're thinking punk, you're thinking did he spell check this document? Well, to tell you the truth I kinda forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this here's CodeProject, the most powerful forums in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

Been to Australia, been to Alaska, never been to NZ. Don't think I'm going to go either. Six years ago a good friend of mine went there for a month of rafting or somesuch and ended up falling in love, getting married, and moving there on a permanent basis. I think I'll just stay here and take no chances :) Aussies are great fun people but have no real understanding of beer ( or what they call beer :) )and are the most opinioned people i have ever seen. And the mosquitoes in Alaska have tail numbers and landing lights. I was in Alaska once in the winter but it was on a army exercise and I only remember that it was not as cold as I expected. Richard Monarchies, aristocracies, and religions....there was never a country where the majority of the people were in their secret hearts loyal to any of these institutions. In the Bay of Plenty which is not to far from the tourist areas of Rotorua or Taupo I have sent you a private mail with my address etc. It's a bit cold here at the moment. Let me know when and what you are doing and I can pick you up or whatever. Regardz Colin J Davies
