I saw a wireless USB hub in the CyberGuys catalog, 480mb/sec transmission rate. Not sure of distance or degradation per meter. However combine that bad boy with a usb->vga converter and your in like flint. But controlling computer remotely is a problem. on the other hand... this is actually what I did and works well. I made one of my laptops part of my entertainment system. Laptop has 802-11g interface and connects to my wireless hub in my office. Laptop is of older variety (inspiron 8200) and has s video connector. Netflix on any TV that has computer.

I've done it with a big hammer, the shaft of a broken arrow, a reel of speaker wire, and coax scavenged from a cable TV installation. YMMV...

Considering the price is $179.99 (802.11g network), I am not sure whether it is as good a deal as Apple TV (229.99 and you get a whole lot more). I can't believe that such devices are so expensive. I was hoping that something will be there in $50 range.

While that is cool, it seems to play files from your machine instead of using the video and audio coming from your machine. I doubt it would be compatbile with Netflix.
