I am looking to locate an obsolete part. I have two numbers for it. Princeton Technologies Corp PT2256 Toshiba TC9235P This is a CMOS volume control IC. My old XM-Radio boom box suddenly became stuck at high volume and I have traced enough to suspect that a static hit took this chip out. It is connected on the circuit card to a TC4066BP Quad BiLateral switch so I am also getting one of those. So far from what I have seen both the volume control chips are obsolete but I can't seem to locate a replacement. Looks like the PT replaced the TC but I can't locate the replacement for either one anywhere. Tried all the standard places (ie: Digikey, Jameco, Rochester...) Any other ideas?

If you can't find old stock of that chip you are a bit stuck as most of the newer devices use a data interface (SPI, I2C). Here is a datasheet for the original device (link[^]). Maxim make a few that take up/down commands, you may be able to patch in one of these[^], but you will lose your loudness functionality and whatever DCout drives (level indicator?).
