I am planning to work at home. I will be developing web applications using ASP .Net, C#. To test these applications I need to select one web hosting company. How can I test these applications with minimum cost. I have googled a lot on the topic, but the informations I got are really confusing.(some tell $3.99 and some tell $45, which is suitable for me-I don't know) and I could n't find a clear solution. Please help me?

You shouldn't choose service based on cost. Instead, choose on things such as featureset, platform, uptime, turnaround of support issues, reliability and speed. These are far more important.

After a number of different web hosts over the years I have settled with DiscountAsp.Net[^] They provide a good service at a reasonable price and have been very helpful whenever I have needed to ask a question. If you do go with them first google for "discountasp.net, coupons" and you should get some first year discount. Note I am nothing to do with them other than that I am a satisfied customer.

If you're just testing them why do you need to have a hosting account?  Can't you set up your own test suites with IIS etc?

I second them, DiscountAsp were very good, however you should take into account they are hosting from the US and your local response may not be satisfactory. I'm in Singapore and changed to a local host for better response (not dramatic but still better). They also have a 30 day money back, I cancelled after 35 days and they were generous enough to refund my money. Unusually good service.
