Barclays Capital slashes contractor rates by 10%[^] Don't the morons that make these stupid decisions have a memory? Do they not recall what happened in 2001/2002 when they did the same thing and then had to eat humble pie when they couldn't get or retain sufficient staff to support existing systems or create new ones? Where do they get these idiots from? The Communist School of Business?:mad::mad:

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.

You have to wonder what they are thinking. Firing a few contractors would allow them to eliminate the worst performers. Cutting everyone's salaries means the best performers will find other jobs and the worst will be the only ones left.

What I don't get is why these contractors don't walk out enmasse. They can't be replaced that easily. And yes, it's a financial hardship for everyone, but it makes a clear statement. Of course, part of that statement is "oh, you're one of those that walked out" in their next job interview. It sucks. Employers hold an axe over employee's heads. Marc

There's no real point in a 1970's style winter-of-discontent protest walk out - contractors can always follow the money.

When you control the system, you can make it do what you want. The fictitious legal persons won the battle against the real human people a long time ago. Lincoln[^] was an optimist.
